I'm not entirely sure how valid this is--from what little I've read New Scientist isn't exactly the most trusted scientific journal on the planet. Plus, apparently there have been breakthroughs like this before, where some drug or another can cure cancer in a sample, but often fails to do the same in a real person.
HOWEVER, I sure would be pleased as punch if this were exactly what it seems to be at face value.
If it turns out to work, part of me says "Hooray, our genes will no longer be our downfall" and part of me says "This drug totally existed 2 years ago. Crap."
