Sand. Though he was born in the desert, he has come to hate this kind of sand. It twirls around him, blinding him and when he finally can open his eyes, he is looking down at a burned man, age coloring his hair gray underneath a gold crown, usual kind eyes glazed with pain and confusion:
"Why, Dastan, why?"
Fear and panic grip the Prince’s heart and he tries to get to the man, his voice hoarse with pleads:
"Somebody, HELP HIM!"
But no one seems to hear him and he is pulled back, his hand grabbing air as the body turns to sand. As it settles down again, he is looking down at deep brown eyes, pity clearly written in them.
"I believe you..."
But before he can say anything, sharp pain crosses his chest and he raises a hand, his own blood covering it.
"Give back what you’ve stolen, Persian!"
The same brown eyes look at him with such hatred that he wonders for a moment if it was really a blade that pierced his skin. But again, the sand sweeps away the scene and before he can even figure out what is happening, he hears his own voice screaming:
"Hassanssins!!"
Spikes fly around him and when he can finally stop fighting, he kneels by a man, his blood filled mouth barely forming the words that he needs to say:
"Save the Empire, Dastan..."
The Prince wants to scream a name but he falls back, his heart full of trust but painful before another man stops his own blade from entering his chest:
"...A moment ago I saw you die before my eyes..."
Relief. The first time Dastan feels it and he smiles at the other man before his first expression turns into one of terror. The same man is falling to the floor, throat opened and the Prince hears a laughter as he meet the floor as well, head swimming with pain again. His hand is moved away from him and when he can see it again, through the flying sand, he sees another hand grabbing it.
He knows what is going to happen. Even in his sleep, he feels the dread come over him as the hand opens, as brown eyes cry softly. He prays that he can hold on this time, but there is no change the past. The hand disappears, the brown eyes close forever and the Prince is left screaming his heart out.
[Dastan wakes up screaming again. The past bad nights he's been having and the high strung day he had not so long ago has made his temper extremely short and when he sees the Dreamberry glowing gray, he grabs it and sends it flying across his bedroom. Though somewhat unsurprised, he is disappointed to see it clatter whole on the floor after hitting the wall.]
