"Ooh, I have an idea! Why don't we try what we drink every weekend?" "Oh my God, you're such a genius!"

Heh, too true. Any standouts you'd suggest I try?

I hate predictable people, too. Oh, what was good... well, there were plenty that were tasty (I'm always a fan of wheat beer no matter what it may be), but I was especially surprised by the following: Beautiful Brews' Honey Amber Rose (sweet with just a hint of rose, which isn't girly, mind you); pretty much anything from Flying Dog; Xihu (a kind of Chinese pilsner that had a surprising spice to it); my favorite title has to be a beer by McGuire's Irish Pub called What the Gentleman on the Floor is Having; and the regulars, like Blue Moon, Sam Adams, and PBR ('cuz it's cheap, dammit).

That'll keep you busy, I hope :-)

If that's how the cool kids drink their PBR count me in!

I'm torn about PBR: I love its cheapness and its drinkability, but I can't help but think that the hipsters are quietly mocking it. If so, well, I'll teach 'em a lesson by taking something they love, like... rock music. Or something. I'll figure it out.

Oh snap. I've been noticing a lot of vitriol toward emo kids from you lately. Did one of them stain your shirt with tear-smudged eyeliner recently?

I didn't realize you wrote for Citybeat. Nice article.

Yes, I do, and have, for most of the year now. But thanks! Better late than never, as long as you compliment.

does this mean that you are no longer an engineer, or are you currently both?

Oh I am very much both. Keeps me quite busy (and adds some pocket change to my coffers). Now if I could completely be the writer and not the engineer and afford it, I would be happy. Until then I'll tag team it.
