three cool movies

Movies, yo. Saw three of 'em (all good fun) in the past couple of weeks. Spoilers ahead.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
My work colleagues and I saw this one in 3D version. The visuals made my head hurt, but I still liked the movie. It didn't feel too different from the book, except that there was much less attention on the people who died. My favorite scenes involved the Slytherins: the flashbacks of Severus Snape and the part when the Malfoys simply walked away from the battle.

Captain America: The First Avenger
I used to think that Captain America was rather dull compared to the other Avengers. But this movie exceeded my expectations. The best things in this movie (some of which will not make sense unless you've watched it):
- The flag
- The grenade
- The general badass-ness of the soldiers in Cap's squad, considering they didn't have powers
- The post-credits scene

Though as cool as the movie was, I couldn't help but think: how much more awesome would it have been if Cap didn't physically change after being given the serum? Imagine this scrawny guy rescuing all those soldiers and performing awesome feats of physical prowess.

Cowboys & Aliens
A cowboy movie and an alien movie rolled seamlessly into one. Seriously. My hat's off to Jon Favreau's awesomeness as a director.

The movie includes most of cowboy movie cliches (cool town name, outlaws, Indians, etc.), but in a fun way. But there was just one thing missing: a fast draw duel. I was really waiting for that one.
