Grand motioned for the guard to follow them as they unwittingly made their way towards the Nexus, he wanted witnesses in case this place actually did exist. He carefully left Riza in front of them, letting her lead the way before the whole world changed in front of them.
The intensity of the relief almost turned Riza's knees to water, threatening to give out from under her once she realized she was back in the Nexus. Maybe she wouldn't be shot, and if she were going to be, they could just escape to somewhere inside the AFV and they would be nigh untouchable then.
She looked around, trying to keep from trembling. She'd been up since four that morning, and everything from early afternoon on had been fraught with strain, and she was starting to overload on the virtually constant adrenaline flooding her.
The first thing in sight as the group emerged in the Nexus is Vergil standing in front of them. His eyes are closed, and the tip of his katana's sheath is resting on the ground in front of him with his hands resting at the edge of the hilt.
His eyelid twitches as he counts the number of bodies emerging from the gateway, and he opens his eyes slowly to greet them, and a gust of wind whips his blue trenchcoat almost ominously.
"Welcome back, Lieutenant Hawkeye," he says quietly, turning his gaze to regard Grand and the guards calmly.
