Prompts from here, set #4~

01 Verbiage
Theo paused in his pre-mission strategy talk to look over at the rest of his teammates (and their collective annoyed, lost expression), and felt his hopes for the night plummet.

02 Glutton
You would think he would have learned not to fight too much with the others the first few times Nina punched him in the gut; you would think that, and yet a bickering match always broke out, almost as if he were just asking for it, glutton for punishment that he was.

03 Loyalty
He knew it was unforgivably stupid of him even before the earth shook and spiked up beneath his feet, but there was no way he'd ever let a demon even think of attacking the others when they had their backs turned.

04 Introspection
"I can't possibly be THAT insufferable," Theo muttered aloud after a few moments reading the messily-written letter, his expression of bruised dignity getting worse at the look the others gave him (there were others out there who were far worse than him, anyways, right?).

05 Waltz
"My foxtrot is much better you know," he mentioned as an aside to Eleanor, who very much looked just as surprised at herself for entertaining his request for a dance as she was at his footwork.

06 Friction
Whatever Freddie liked to tell the others, that tube of lubricant in his toolbox was for working in the garage, and only that because what else would you do with industrial strength.

07 Ink
Even if he couldn't meet them face to face, or they hid their feelings exceptionally well in frivolous words, he found himself looking for the tiniest tics of emotion in the handwriting that soon became as obvious to him as any facial expression.

08 Spiral
"No, see, it's not quite defeatist, because the way I see it, things are only going to continue going wildly out of our control from here - I'm just prepared for that eventuality."

09 Fractured
Bruises and cuts and scrapes were gone in an instant, but Diarama spells could only do so much: something Theo picked up the hard way when his "healed" ribs left him gasping in pain if he so much as sneezed.

10 Renewable
Would fixing this wreck of an automobile be possible - of course it was, but these sorts of things were most definitely not easy, and exactly the sort of thing Theo couldn't help but throw himself into.

11 Memory
It made things so much easier when there was someone taking notes of everything going on, less stress trying to keep up with what demon liked what or wanted to kill who; Will, however, either didn't see the usefulness or just wasn't pleased with being dragged about like a personal secretary.

12 Illuminate
"Aequitas is here to electrocute the opposition, Millie, not as your personal nightlight every time the power goes out; now stop that shrieking, it's ghastly."

13 Hesitation
He paused for a moment, Aequitas crackling with electricity in anticipation of the attack Theo had halted at the look of the fairy crumpled in the dark alley before him, her wings listless and face turned away - it lasted about a second, until her ice attack lashed out at his face at the same time Aequitas let loose with the zionga spell in return, and Theo swore it wouldn't happen again.

14 Clamp
Plenty of things set off Theo's mood, and yet he didn't do more than heave a tired sigh at the toddler of a cousin clinging to his leg (and cutting off his circulation) while he did his best to finish his book in peace.

15 Encase
"Now that was hardly as bad as you made it out to be," he said with that smug face at Joe as he popped the trunk open, earning himself a hook to the jaw for his noble efforts of sneaking the ungrateful little miscreant past demons and security thugs alike.

16 Transfer
There was more than one time, even before he had learned of demons and Personas, that Theo asked himself why he hadn't just stayed closer to home and attended St. John's Prep like his brother had.

17 Disposable
He'd done it plenty of times before: become just friendly enough to get what he wanted, before tossing the poor victim, usually the child of a competing company on behest of his cousins, to the wayside - but found that he couldn't quite bring himself to do so to any of his current comrades, as stupid as it seemed to have not saved himself the trouble and done so weeks ago.

18 Echo
Freddie wasn't as much of a pain as Theo made him out to be, until, of course, the other boy took to repeating Theo's questions back at him with a look of utter innocence, halo slipping.

19 Bottle
One drink in, and Theo could already tell that finding Nyx's establishment was going to be a mistake that would follow them for weeks.

20 Notate
Helping Locrine to sort out the collected files and threads of theories from the past few months was a nightmare, everyone knew it, but damn if it had to be done - even if Theo was left the only one willing to volunteer.

21 Mask
"And at what point were you expecting the Persona and the host to constantly act like one and the same, hm?" He asked, thumbing through a small stack of bills that he had acquired through less-than-perfectly-honest means that Aequitas certainly did NOT approve of.

22 Regret
Theo could grow to not mind the muck in his mouth, the disheveled hair, the money he'd have to drop on dry cleaning later - what he couldn't come to terms with was that he hadn't gotten to grind Campbell's face in the mud when he had the chance.

23 Determined
He'd been drenched in freezing water, poisoned, stabbed in the foot, and had his arm gnawed on, and yet he could only give a disdainful sniff at the scythe-holding shadow waiting in the dark for when he fell (which wasn't going to happen any time soon, he still had a job to do, God help him).

24 Scored
There were probably far more mature things that the letters could have been used for, aside from running this ridiculous competition he had fallen into with Zoe, but few things brought a smug smile to his face like every time he tallied up another successful demon bribe against her.

25 Fester
Of course he wasn't bothered by Edith's looks and politely-cold remarks, why would anyone dare ask even if their mutual exchange of looks could kill anyone who happened to be unlucky enough to come between them ?

26 Pet
Although his parents had refused to buy him that puppy when he was younger, Theo couldn't have imagined it'd be much different from when the Packard was in a playful, less murderous mood.

27 Reflection
There were a few habits Theo had that he wasn't too open about in polite company, but that didn't mean he could help himself from checking out of the corner of his eye every single time he caught himself in the mirror.

28 Mold
No one had ever told him that this was a slow process, painful and humiliating, or that he would hardly even realize just how he'd changed at the end of the year until it was all over and done with.

29 Collaborate
He had to admit, trading comments back and forth in Italian with Dante was absolutely worth it for the look on the demons' faces, and even more of a laugh when Campbell could only stare.

30 Cyclical
It wasn't that Freddie had actually won the argument, oh heavens no, just that his roommate's circular talking and logic wasn't worth the trouble at the moment Or so Theo kept telling himself every time someone dared bring it up.

31 Season
It didn't matter the temperature or humidity, whether it was disgustingly stifling or the wind cut everyone to the bone, Theo's uniform was still perfectly pressed and starched - and stayed that way.

32 Reach
In truth, he hadn't even thought anything of it when he had plucked the book off of the shelf where it rested just slightly out of Abigail's reach and pressed it into her hand, just that it was obvious he might as well since he was looking for something on the same shelf; it was only when she gave him that bemused stare that Theo bristled and, sullen, made briskly for the next aisle in the library as if none of the last few minutes had ever happened.

33 Inhospitable
They had been expecting something much darker and barren when they spotted the open door to Theo's room, like some sort of spartan prison-come-fortress that would explain his constant irritation, not soft bedspreads, throw pillows, and tastefully arranged bookshelves

34 Reconnect
"Stop looking at it like that, it won't kill you," he chided the others, screws of the car's side-view mirror sliding into place on their own as if by some sort of ghostly power - something that the rest of his classmates had never had the weeks in the garage and chance to get used to.

35 Blacksmith
Forget Personae of kings or war heroes or early civillization parallels of Christ, Vulcan's endless resourcefulness suited him just fine.

36 Germinate
It was a horrendous idea: wily and clever, and the way Theo's eyes lit up at mention of it just made everyone around him cringe uneasily, but it was already too far gone for any other idea to take seed quite so well.

37 Hoisted
He had taken plenty of cars apart before, down to the bare frame and each individual bolt, but he hadn't ever felt a machine just fall completely, eerily dead like the Packard did once its engine had been lifted out on the hydraulic crane, as if it was a body in the room and not just a car.

38 Embrace
Theo may not have been able to charm others with a smile and a dash of sparkle like some people, but he was more than aware of his competence at telling people exactly what they needed (but didn't want) to hear, and this late in the game why change that?

39 Flinch
There was something to be said when lightning crashing down upon you didn't even earn a blink anymore.

40 Natural
They could have dealt with the lights from the city ruining their view of the meteor shower; could have, but no one really questioned the well-aimed arc of lightning that hit the power line's transformer box and created a blackout for the next block or so, leaving the starlight to shine at it's fullest.

41 Coarse
Beggars couldn't be choosers, but he couldn't help the slightest of grimaces as he tried to brush off the feel of the blanket from his hands, already missing his sheets back upstairs in his room; how did anyone survive, sleeping on that?

42 Repeat
Summoning Personae could never be considered plausible by any stretch of the imagination, and yet bringing out Aequitas came to him each time as easily as breathing.

43 Enclosed
No need to bother even checking to see what was inside the package that dolt Anthony had sent him: as if anything good could have come out of something wrapped in magazine pages covered in nude women.

44 Loneliness
It wasn't that he was determined to keep others at arm's length, just that any relationship that was worth it was never formed without some sort of challenge.

45 Soar
Theo hated to leave himself defenseless, but nothing was ever so useful, or interesting to watch, as letting Aequitas free to rise above the buildings and power lines of the city to scout.

46 Eulogy
If subtly threatening to recite the most traumatic and embarrassing tales at their funerals was what it took to get them to pay attention and focus on staying alive, then by God he'd do it.

47 Flee
The others could talk all they wanted about being noble and honorable, but Theo wasn't above running away from the impossibly-tall, fire-breathing, acid-spewing, demonic swordsman if he could help it.

48 Complication
As if he'd waste the day by keeping an eye on Celia while she was sick in bed, not when he finally had the first homework-free break in months and was dead set on actually relaxing -- that was, until his mother gave him that look, and Theo found himself in an armchair pulled up next to his sister's bed, reading aloud from the sappiest romance novel he had ever laid hands on.

49 Peaceful
The only time he didn't have a scowl or glare was when he was sleeping, passed out in the armchair with his book dropped in his lap, almost serene; it ended the second the thin blanket was draped over him.

50 Trial
The fights weren't so bad once he stopped thinking of the pain and blood as actual physical things as opposed to just a test of endurance that would be over all too soon, one way or another.
