West End vs Broadway

A link for any other musical theatre fans. I have to say that I came to the UK with high expectations of the calibre of West End musicals and have been a little disappointed...

Well, I do like the commenter who said: "In a sweeping generalisation, we are reserved and apologetic and you guys are brash and ambitious. This has a bearing on everything we do and the success or failure of it thereof. It affects sport and commerce just as it affects the arts."

But I haven't really seen enough West End musicals to compare them with Broadway, especially with what's new/innovative. I do know that I can't say there was a huge difference in quality across the board with what I've seen on Broadway and what I saw on the West End.

It'll be interesting to see Alli's take on it when she visits in April. She wasn't particularly impressed with the range of shows on.
Then again I'm coming to NYC in June and I'm not particularly impressed by the range either! But that's because NONE of my old favourites are playing. Which is ok, I should try more new stuff blah blah blah...
