Earth. most comfortable on solid earth, prefer being cold to being too hot. A form that could be suited to the extreme cold would honestly do me well. --> Muskoxen are native to the Arctic areas of Canada, Greenland, and the United States. It's also been reintroduced in Scandinavia.
come off as intimidating, prefer to be a capable fighter rather than a flighty creature, prefer to be on the bigger side rather than tiny --> They are definitely intimidating and can fight if they have to.
While Muskoxen are herd animals, they tend to live in small family herds. You mention enjoying staying with close friends.
Dhole If a subspecies if needed: Eastern Dhole (Cuon a. alpinus)
Definitely not air. Swimming is one of my favorite activities. I also really enjoy trees and mountains. I could be happy with either earth or water, really. --> Earth or water animal, possibly a combination of both.
You're pretty laidback and you want to be either imposing, stealthy or smart. I like having people around me. I'm not particularly outgoing, but I am pretty friendly. I could never live alone. That said, I spend a lot of time by myself. --> A solitary animal is out of the question.
A mustelid or a nocturnal canid would fit you well I think.
In the end I chose the Dhole for you. They're social but don't have a strong hierarchy, which I feel goes well with "laidback". They live in somewhat large packs and break into smaller groups for hunting. They're also not very aggressive, which goes well with your disinterest in ferocious animals. However they are capable of defending themselves.
I was actually thinking Green Sea Turtle for this applicant even before I got to the connection response! This turtle has an incredibly easy-going personality which is reflected in the applicant's very laid-back nature. Those with this kind of personality are also indecisive and they prefer to do things at night. They're not very social but they enjoy company, just like the applicant.
Never ask for help, loner Earth. Water is a close second, being on land *close* to water, not particularly impressed by flying Late night, 11pm - 3am --> Solitary, nocturnal, earth-based animal were the 3 main characteristics I looked for.
I voted for the Granite Night Lizard for you, because it fits all the above characteristics and you mentioned liking reptiles. It also has pretty good eyesight which is something you'd like.
I believe the Komodo Dragon would suit this applicant very well. For one, they're intelligent and they have excellent eye-sight. Those with a komodo personality prefer to spend leisure time on their own but are not against spending some time with others. In addition they're independent and prefer to complete projects on their own without the help of others.
