I definitely wanted to go with a bird for this applicant - specifically, when they said that flying would be "fun and freeing," I realized that an avian animal would be the best fit (also, one of their desired traits was the ability to be fast and fly). I went with the Eastern Whip-poor-will: • Nocturnal - as the applicant said they were most comfortable at night/in the dark. • Known for something special - the cry of the whip-poor-will not only inspired its name, but is the species' defining characteristic and is legendary. • Habitat - native to northern climates, which are cooler and prone to the kinds of weather the applicant prefers. Also, they are birds of flight but they sleep on the ground - the applicant said they preferred land or air and this bird gives them both options! • Badass - birds of prey are inherently badass, and whip-poor-wills can HOVER. LIKE HUMMINGBIRDS ONLY KIND OF TERRIFYING. What is more badass than that?
Applicant #536: I think you'd do well as a newish breed of cat called the Skookum. During your whole application I pictured you as a small mammal, so this kind of cat that is specifically bred to be tiny seems appropriate. As someone who pushed heavily for a feline form myself, I completely understand having that kind of inclination. I think with being an animagus in particular there's no evidence that wizards and witches can't just pick a form, so I like to take strong inclinations into account when I vote. But aside from that, I think you'd be able to blend in city and hide and observe the way you want. As a cat no one would be surprised if you decided you needed alone time and personal space, so I think that would suit you as well.
Shiba Inu - the Shiba Inu is quiet and as it was originally bred for hunting, is sharp, agile and observant - the observant trait being what stood out to me the most from the app, while speed and sharp eyesight are traits that the applicant would like to have. - the applicant is quiet around strangers but talkative around more familiar people, which resembles the Shiba's tendency to be reserved towards strangers but affectionate towards those who have earned its respect. - the applicant is small, and the Shiba is small too. Plus it has a tail and fur, which the applicant likes, and is a dog, which the applicant also likes.

I'd love to hear your reasons, and any other animals that didn't get picked that you suggested!
