Applicant 568:

Vote 1:
Steppe Wolf
  • Our applicant said he was solitary, but this part: I've had a very few people I've been close to, mostly lovers or *thinks about it* How to translate, like blood brothers... I never liked the part where I talk to them as much. American men tend to be physically cold and hands off, unlike say guys from the Caucasus or the Middle East (or a boyfriend). I always liked being able to have my arm around somebody's shoulders, to play fight with them, to be able to defend them, things like that. I'd do better as an animal because almost all of your communication is physical. made me think he was really just more comfortable with a select few people. He seemed like a pack animal to me, in that sense, and so I decided to pick a wolf form for him.
  • He also said he was drawn to wolves and coyotes so I wanted to respect that preference.
  • The coloring of the steppe wolf (which is a subspecies of the grey wolf) ranges from white to black, so I think there's room for his Animagus form to take on a look that ( ... )

Vote 5:
I choose the Northwest Coast Coyote for applicant #568. The applicant said she likes to be somewhere hidden, which fits the coyote that keeps hidden during the day and only really comes out at night. The applicant prefers night time, which fits the coyote's nocturnal behaviour. The applicant said she liked forest and beach type areas and has love of overcast days, the Northwest Coast Coyote resides along the coast of Washington and Oregon where it's pretty forresty and the weather is pretty overcast all the time. The applicant also said she'd love to be able to fight and run, which coyotes are pretty great at.

Vote 6:
Your walking into situations with a “middle finger and a sense of entitlement” points me towards true stubbornness. Looking for stubborn animals points me towards the Nubian wild ass. First of all, being very closely related to donkeys naturally give it stubbornness. Also, although it lives in a climate warmer than your preferred 60 to 65 degrees, it knows to avoid the heat when it's warmer than that so its ( ... )

Applicant 569:

Vote 1:
Weimaraner
  • Hard not to think of man's best friend the way our applicant described herself. She's playful, temperamental, high-energy, so I wanted to go with a sporting dog, as they are known for being playful, energetic, and need lots of exercise.
  • She says she likes being around others but can also spend time by herself-- the weimaraner is a pretty social breed of dog but, left alone, is known to create its own fun. (Whether that's something its owners like or not, well, that's another topic!)
  • She described herself as tall and athletic, so I wanted to get a specific breed of dog that reflected that. The weimaraner is slender and you can tell it's built for agility too.
  • She wants to be smooth or furry-- the weim is kind of both! Also it's the kind of dog that always stops me in my tracks because it's just so SLEEK and regal-looking. I think she'd like being one!

Vote 2:
For this applicant, I suggest the Smooth-coated otter. She wanted an animal with smooth fur and this otter is known for having shorter, ( ... )

Vote 5:
You like air and water, so that points me towards a water-based bird. In particular, I feel the Red-billed Tropicbird is the best fit for you. First, as a seabird, you would get both the air and water you want. Also, its tropical habitat fits in very well with your preference of warmth. Finally, the huge amount that these birds fly (they have been known to go from their tropical habitats to Great Britain, Maine, Canada, or Australia!) fits in well with your desire to constantly be active as opposed to sedentary.

Vote 6:
This applicant had an affinity for water and air, which again reminds me of some kind of shorebird. They want something energetic and beautiful, so I was thinking of a colorful bird. They like warm and sunny weather, so I think a tropical bird would fit all these aspects very well. They are describe themselves as fun and outgoing, so a bird that flocks with others would fit this. I think American Flamingo fits all these aspects of the applicant's personality. They said they wanted fur, but I'm thinking ( ... )

Applicant 570:

Vote 1:
Striped Polecat
  • Our applicant considers herself nocturnal, which the striped polecat is.
  • She is also a loner, and striped polecats are solitary creatures.
  • She wanted her Animagus form to have fur and a tail, both of which the polecat has. (Its fur is pretty long)
  • Her preferred kind of weather was warm so I went for the striped polecat, which is primarily found in savannahs and open country in Africa.

Vote 2:
For this applicant, I suggest the Gray-handed night monkey. The gray-handed night monkey has fur and is a good climber as the applicant requested. It lives in the tropical climate of Colombia and Venezuela, so she wouldn't have to worry about getting cold and its arboreal lifestyle could satisfy her desire to be in the air. As the name implies, this monkey is nocturnal and like the applicant, this monkey prefers small, familiar groups rather like a family.

Vote 3:
For you I picked the American Badger. And not just because you're the perfect Hufflepuff. This badger is mostly nocturnal but has been seen ( ... )

Vote 5:
Let's see... you love warmth, are nocturnal, and are torn between water and air but don't like scales. Putting things together, I feel the sea otter is right for you. First of all, it's a furry water creature, which fits with how you love water but want fur. Also, although sea otters are mainly diurnal (while you're nocturnal), that can fit in with you because they quite often feed around your preferred time of at or shortly after midnight. Finally, you want a way to defend and protect yourself; sea otters actually use rocks to defend themselves - almost as if they were human!

Vote 6:
Bahaman Raccoon! Raccoons were traditionally seen to be solitary creatures - they shied away from other creatures, humans, and their own kind alike. Now, we've found out that they actually tend to be around other raccoons of the same gender, but only ever a few. And those are family. So in terms of your own shy personality but your openness with people you're close to, I think this is pretty close because it allows you that aloneness that you ( ... )
