Minerva was not in a pleasant mood. It never ceased to happen in this manner -- it seemed like anytime Dumbledore was called away and she was left to handle the school, disaster struck. She supposed that the only good thing about this situation was that he couldn't be blamed for it. He wasn't even here, for Merlin's sake! The old man dealt with far too much backlash, and she was almost happy to shoulder some of the responsibility. It happened on her watch, after all.
Weary, green eyes cut to Severus, watching him sit still along the side wall, staring at the darkness outside. She frowned, knowing that he no doubt felt a lot of the blame himself. He knew of the threats within the castle walls, and had disregarded most of this as minor. Perhaps he'd never known something like this would have happened. After all, nothing quite this bad had happened in their years here. A few close calls, sure -- that was impossible to avoid with Harry Potter around just a few years ago. But lately... It was a bit of a shock.
"Tea, Severus?" she asked calmly, watching as his dark eyes darted to her and then looked away again, giving her no reply.
She sighed softly to herself, then laced her fingers together neatly while she waited for the arrivals. Notes had been sent promptly, requesting the presence of the student and staff officials. The situation had been somewhat explained, though there were many questions left unanswered. However, as a devoted Deputy Headmistress, she wanted to inform them of what had been figured out at least. It was far better than the rumours floating around the school.
As a knock sounded lightly at the door, she perked; something to break this tension was welcome. "Come in," she called, waving a hand and watching the door slowly open.
