"AND THEY'RE OFF! Gryffindor in possession of the Quaffle!'

The moment Bacchus' foot spun from the earth and lifted into the air, he knew how this game was going to play out. A smile lifted the corners of his mouth and he even ( Read more... )

As a chaser for the Gryffindor team, Andrew Frazer should have felt on top of the world. The wind blew through his hair as he held on tightly to the quaffle, heading towards the goal posts.

But he didn't feel on top of the world. He felt lousy. Rotten. Horrible. Awful. He was a walking thesaurus of words that meant CRAP. He could hear the reason he felt so bad just a few metres away, calling loudly to the Ravenclaw captain. Bacchus Donovan. Quidditch captain extraordinaire and purveyor of harsh words. Andy had deserved roughly three quarters of what had been said, the rest was just mean.

He'd barely gotten a wink of sleep which was the reason for his dishevelled appearance and puffy eyes. But goddamn if he was going to one single thing wrong today. Today he would be perfect because he had nothing else to aspire to.

"Dammit, who's open?" he called to either of his fellow Chasers.

Kazu sped after the ruddy ball he was looking after. The damn thing got away from him too easily, he decided. Gritting his teeth, he flew after it, only once in awhile taking his eyes off of it to see where Bach was.

Then... Hey, a Frazer! A Frazer about to collide with a Bludger... Not good!

"Oi, Frazer!" Kazu yelled. "Frazer, MOVE!!"

He figured the other boy wouldn't take his demand so seriously, but when there was a speeding ball of death flying at him, he figured a simple 'move' would get his emotions across. Couldn't have Gryffindor's best chaser sent off his broom, could they?

With a cry, Kazu lobbed the incoming Bludger in the direction of one of the Ravenclaw chasers. Looked like that Kincadd kid. He turned to Andy and gave him a smile and a nod before speeding off, looking for another target to smash.

As soon as that ruddy Fi McFinn caught the snitch, Tom flew down and dismounted, hurriedly running for the locker room so he could scream nonsense at the empty room or ... somehow let out his frustration. He was so pissed off that they'd just lost their first quidditch match of the season that he was ready to explode at the faintest disturbance.

Tom hadn't even paid any attention to Madam Hooch when she blew her whistle and declared the game over, calling both captains over to shake hands. He kept on walking angrily, but mildly composed, over to locker rooms. Screw shaking that Donovan bloke's hand... Bastard could go to hell for all Tom cared.

Bacchus looked at Madame Hooch, who was, apparently, very perturbed by the lack in sportsmanship showed by the Ravenclaw team.

"Don't worry about it, baby, I'll have a word with him!" he told the woman, winking in a very cheeky fashion at her. She frowned and held out an oddly massive bicep before he could pass.

"No fighting, Donovan! Best let him be 'till the anger's worn off!"

Bacchus snorted and gave her a quick flash of a smile. "Not to worry, love! I'll behave myself, Scout's honor!" he waved two fingers at her. She gave him a wary glare, and, from somewhere high above, Bacchus thought he could feel McGonagle's eyes burning into the back of his scalp, as if she knew what they were discussing.

Crazy old hag!But before he had time to thing anything else, the bicep was dropped. Madame Hooch and her oddly masculine features was smiling at him ( ... )

Tom clenched his fists as soon as he'd thrown a quaffle across the room and it'd bounced off a wall, nearly breaking the poor old ball. If it was possible for Tom to get any more mad than he already was, he'd just figured out a way to do so. Bacchus was the last person he'd want to see in the Ravenclaw quidditch locker room.

He turned around and glared at Bacchus, standing there in HIS locker room. His robes whipped behind him as Tom moved closer to Bacchus, like an animal stalking it's prey. Tom didn't even know what he was doing at the moment. Half of him wanted to tear Bacchus to shreds but the other half kept reminding him that he was a prefect and had to set an example for the younger kids in Hogwarts.

Tom ignored the good angel on his shoulder though and immediately gripped tighter on his beater's bat in one hand and his other hand on his wand in the holster on his leg. "Get the fuck out," he spat back at Bach through clenched teeth.

Bacchus himself had yet to put down his own bat, his knuckles white along the handle. He wasn't going to hit Tom with it... not yet, at least.

"Don't you tell me what to bleedin' do!" he scowled, throwing a hand to the locker behind Tom's head. He wanted to pin the younger boy there, wanted a full-blown confrontation, no outs, no leaving. And damnit all, he was going to get what he wanted! Bacchus Donovan was not used to anything else, for those few not cowardly enough to give it right out were usually dealt with quickly as possible.

"You just got your sorry arse handed to you, and you don't even have the balls to shake hands?!" he shouted, his loud, deep voice echoing off the surrounding walls.

"If you were on MY team, lad? Ohho, boyo! You'd be off in a split second for your behavior there, sport! S'a wonder your Head of House innit all up in this right now, eh?!"

He punched the locker again.

"You're a sorry excuse for a captain, there, boyo!"

SPECTATORS! lexi_winchester August 13 2008, 23:04:08 UTC
When was the last time Hogwarts hosted a full match!? Lexi could barely recall.

But it was about time, she thought, wrapping herself up in thick robes and her bright Gryffindor scarf. She remembered being called the 'unofficial Gryffindor cheerleaders' just a year ago -- when things were happier, she had more of her friends, she'd secretly really come to cheer Thatcher on -- a lot of things were different.

But in any case, Lexi wouldn't miss the opportunity to watch and support her house! So, up in the stands, she clapped and chanted 'GRYFFINDOOOOR!' along with the other students around her, breath coming out in swirly clouds in the chilly December air.

Chen pulled his gloves on, shivering insanely under his many layers of coats. He never did like the cold. Ever. He wrapped his old Ravenclaw scarf snugly about his shoulders and neck, hoping that he could stay somewhat warmer that way. Why was he even here? He was COLD!

But standing in the middle of a big crowd shouting their house name over and over again made him recall his house pride. He wanted Ravenclaw to win so badly! Not that he hated the Lion team, or anything. After all, his brother played for Gryffindor, and not to mention Bacchus Donovan.

Whew. Bach was reason alone to go, right?

Chen rubbed his hands together in an attempt to keep warm. "Let's go, Ravenclaw!!"
