Week Name/Date/Time: 'Daily Grind' / Sept 2nd, 2006 / 8:55 AM Location: Quality Quidditch Supplies Open To: Penny and any potential Quality Quidditch Supplies customers/visitors Currently Involving: Lynn
Penny came running in after her boss, Lynn, out of breath and fumbling to put on part her uniform. She'd just dropped Treasa off with Thatch and she would have been to work earlier to open the shop but Thatch and her had gotten caught up in an important conversation.
"I'm sorry I'm late, I had to drop off my child and ... I promise it won't happen again," Penny said as she started to help around the shop by changing the 'CLOSED' to 'OPEN' and starting to dust off the shelves. Tying up her long blonde hair, Penny checked the time and went over to 'clock in.' She was usually early to work and on time but today was different because stupid Thatcher had gotten her going on about moving and Treasa and ugh, things she shouldn't have been worrying about.
So passing by Lynn, she gave a quick smile and kept on working before saying, "...and good morning!"
Lynn jumped forward slightly, shocked by Penny's entrance. Honestly, Lynn hadn't noticed the girl wasn't there. "Not a problem," she mumbled, absently but truthfully, sitting down behind the counter doubling as her desk. She returned the happy greeting with a less happy, more Lynn-like nod of acknowledgment.
"Nimbus shipment coming in today," she stated after flipping through some papers. Lynn wasn't one to communicate much, if at all, but she had found after Penny's first day or so that not communicating would just cause trouble. Besides, Penny was a good person as far as Lynn could tell, so Lynn didn't mind the extra few words a day too much. Penny had been a lot of help so far after all.
'Great, Penny thought to herself, imagining the fun that would come from stocking all of the brooms in the back. Not exactly her idea of fun but it was her ticket out of her parents' house and that was all that mattered to Penny. If she had to scrub the floors, wash the windows, and clean the loo? She'd do it.
Penny was just glad today that Treasa wasn't right next to her, in her carrier peacefully sleeping or flailing about and playing with a baby-sized stuffed wand. She wondered though, what Lynn would have said if she had actually needed to bring Treasa into work with her.
"Lynn, would you ever let me bring my daughter to work with me if I needed to?" she asked, letting her curiousity get the better of her. "It wouldn't be an everyday thing but ... if the need ever arose, would it be okay?"
"Sure, any time," Lynn replied, still flipping through papers with notes written all over them. Coming from any other person, it might have sounded kind or warm but from Lynn, it just sounded...bored. She did mean it kindly though. If Penny had a daughter, Lynn certainly wasn't going to be responsible for her spending less time with her parent than was necessary
