Have you ever held an officials position in HiH? If so, how many terms? before no, currently yes. I suppose more usefully for this position, I have been team lead for a landcomm community in the past, which is an analogous position to prefect.
Beyond Sorting Logs and In-House contests, what kinds of activities/discussions will you use to help keep your Common Room active?
I would like to focus on activities with quick participation that can lead to further discussion; as much as I enjoy gifting all the forced altruism is getting to me (and I would think others).
1. Wacky holidays -- this is the kind of thing I keep track of anyway so I’d love to bring them to the common room. We could discuss what it really would be like if pets had thumbs (March 3), share pictures of ourselves sans pants for “No pants day” (first Friday in May) or each tell all about our brand of nerd pride for “Nerd Pride Day” (May 23).
2. This is Ravenclaw, we like information, and we each had different information to share. I’d like to start “Ask the Master” posts where people would post a small lesson in whatever they think they are best at and then everyone else could ask questions on the topic. Subjects could be anything from a short beginner piano lesson to an explanation of crystal field theory. Maybe someone could explain the dodge tool in image manipulation programs or explain how they find all the best fics. Really the possibilities are endless and I think knowing what members think are their greatest skills and allowing them to interact on that level could develop more lasting associations.
How often will you be able to check/update the sorting log and/or be around to answer questions for members of your house? Certainly nightly, and I usually have access to a computer at work, so I’d probably be able to sneak off a quick reply there also.
How often do you sort applications? In an average month, how often are you a Top Sorter? Usually every week. Certainly three of the four weeks in a month. I think I missed one week last term.
How would you handle a conflict/dispute?: I always wonder what the “wrong way” to answer this question would be. Something like, I’d decide which of the two combatants I prefer to hand out in a bar with and then unilaterally decide everything in their favor, maybe?
So, needless to say, that is not how I would go about it, but instead would go through the standard getting all parties (and the other prefect, particularly if it is an in house matter) together to go through it and explain the full problem, apologize for anything that is my fault, look over any rules that apply so that decisions would be rule based, and try to come up with the most universally acceptable solution. Bonus points if said acceptable solution is simply a compromise between the affected parties.
Why are you interested in being a prefect/co-prefect?
There is the standard, I love Ravenclaw and want to help it along. But in addition to that, this is starting out to be a slow term for Ravenclaw, and I think most terms after you win are slow because people are burnt out. I want to help take some pressure off. I know it may be blasphemy, but it is okay not to win all the time (and if any one team did win all the time I think we would soon see the community come to an end), so I would like to try facilitating an inward facing term where we may regroup and strengthen internal bonds, before charging sailing back out into the wild.

Have you ever held an officials position in HiH? If so, how many terms? I was Quidditch Captain.
Beyond Sorting Logs and In-House contests, what kinds of activities/discussions will you use to help keep your Common Room active? THis is kind of a hard question to answer in the middle of the term. A lot of what I hope to do is just keep things running, helping Evy out, and so on. I have a couple of ideas for social posts, like a spring breaky thing with "theme days" (for Americans, something like spirit week or homecoming week), but I'm mostly interested in picking up and helping Evy out with what she already has planned.
How much availability do you have in an average week for performing mod duties? All the time. I'm not working right now, and can be available at nearly any time to do it.
Do you have any experience creating/manipulating graphics? Some. I'm not very good at it, but I"ve done a booth at Hogsmeade a couple of times, and I love to fiddle.
Suggest three activities to promote house unity:
1) Discussions about the Harry Potter books and movies, ranging from "simple" things like who is your favorite book character and why, your favorite movie character and why, do your favorite book and movie characters match? and so on, to discussing plot points and why they exist. Diferent people in different houses are going to like diferent things, but several are also going to like same things, and it would be interesting to see what's what.
2) Links to fun things, maybe a weekly "boredom" post, where members can go to find things to do when they find themseves on the internet without anything to do (SHOCKING!!).
3) Scavengers hunts! Maybe not for points, but for graphics or ficlets or some such, but having to hunt around the internet and HiH for things. Everything has a point value and the person and/or team that returns with the most points, wins (though in that case, everyone would get something like a participation banner.)
Why are you interested in this moderator position? I really want to give back to the house that's given me so much. I've never quite felt at home anywhere else, and then Ravenclaw puled me in.

Have you ever held an officials position in HiH? If so, how many terms? I've been Hogsmeade Mayor for two terms and Flourish Mod for one term. (Sorry, can't remember the exact dates of those terms)
Beyond Sorting Logs and In-House contests, what kinds of activities/discussions will you use to help keep your Common Room active? I'd like to post random quizzes or questions in the CR for people to answer, sort of like what insomniacs has. Maybe something like Friday Fives, too? Additionally, I'm willing to help out with any plans for this that Patricia has, including keeping up with the birthday lists, mentoring for new claws, and other similar projects.
How often will you be able to check/update the sorting log and/or be around to answer questions for members of your house? Since this is the summer, I'll be around on average for 10 hours a day. I'll need to reduce my hours around August 25th, but I will still be available for a little time between then and the end of the term.
How often do you sort applications? In an average month, how often are you a Top Sorter? I've only missed out on being a Top Sorter for a maximum of 5-6 times, I think? It's really rare that I miss a week, honestly - it only happens during finals week and when I'm away on trips.
How would you handle a conflict/dispute?: I would make sure that at least one of the prefects - hopefully both - sat down and spoke with all parties via email or chat. We would need to understand what was going on, then we could formulate some kind of solution from there. I would also try to work out something very swiftly, hopefully before it escalated into a drama-filled situation - that's really the last thing anyone needs.
Why are you interested in being a prefect/co-prefect? Primarily, I'm applying because I do have some time to spare and the House needs a second prefect. Since I've been an official before and have knowledge of how the System works, I figured I could transition into the position fairly easily. (Also, I'm pretty good with spreadsheets and submitting points to the System, so when Patricia mentioned that ... well, I got rather excited. :D)

Have you ever held an officials position in HiH? If so, how many terms? Nope
Beyond Sorting Logs and In-House contests, what kinds of activities/discussions will you use to help keep your Common Room active? I loved Viking Week last term and hope to bring that back this term!
How often will you be able to check/update the sorting log and/or be around to answer questions for members of your house? Frequently! I'm not online constantly, but I check it frequently. Plus all comments and such get forwarded to my phone.
How often do you sort applications? In an average month, how often are you a Top Sorter? I think I've been Top Sorter almost every week since the beginning of the year!
How would you handle a conflict/dispute?: Contact all parties involved and decide the best course from there. If needed, contact the appropriate authorities.
Why are you interested in being a prefect/co-prefect? I love Ravenclaw house and want to see it continue to thrive!
