It's Eid soon and I'm not sure what to gift my sisters-in-law. I have bought plates which I'm planning to fill with either meringues (which they can eat with whipped cream and fresh fruit) or an awesome almond and nougat cake, and wrap in cellophane. (I always give them foodie gifts.)

How is Eid going for you so far? We don't really do anything here... unless it's someone in the family who is doing the whole pilgrimmage.

It's ok. There's no official holiday here of course so life goes on as usual and people work and go to school and whatnot, which takes away from the spirit. But it's fun as well! I got a shiny new cookbook, a pair of cozy slippers and lots of money :P and managed to make people smile with my gifts in return!
