Sakura/Cherry

Mar 13, 2009 22:40

Written from a prompt; choose a fruit and write about it from two perspectives. I chose cherry (obviously, lol) and decided to use the sakura for the other half. Both poems are meant to be read next to each other - and I know the Japanese might be obvious to some people, but it's for my portfolio, so.

Sakura (桜)

I drift pinkly,
petal-light.
Fleeting.
Do not weep
for me. Itte
kimasu.

Cherry

I am a drop
of blood, curling
into myself.
You tie my stem
in knots with
your tongue.

Sakura - Cherry blossom
Itte kimasu - I will return

poetry, writing
