Chapter 8
Me and The Disastrous Wedding Day
CHAPTER LINKS HEREl It has been a week that the three servants of mine together with someone who was reported as my assassinator disappeared. I was asking for the complete details and reasons but everyone are avoiding me including the Head Empress herself. “You don’t have to be bothered… Everything will be fine… We’ll see to it that you’re safe… and Don’t stress yourself…” these are their excuses, giving emphasis on my safety and wellness but not on my awareness.
“Princess, there is someone who would like to see you…” informed by her new personal maid. “She’s waiting at the reception area… would you like me to bring her here?...”
“Onegaishimasu…” Yuri replied sluggishly. She has been unmotivated since the time of the incident where the detective was shot because no one had ever dared to gave her any single detail on what exactly happened and that somberness was even doubled when the announcement of her wedding was publicized to the date exactly tomorrow. It’s kind of rush of course for someone who is so unprepared like her but the decision is final that she can’t argue anymore. If she looks into the calendar, it has been more than a month only since she was taken from her foster parents but lots of happenings had occurred already. Starting from the arrival of the three servants who were now missing in action, to the subsequent threat she had been receiving from her assassinator, to the coronation ceremony which was done only a week ago, to the weird fiancée who keeps on pushing her to cancel the wedding and up to the weird feelings she’s having right now. “I’ve had enough…” she sobbed, filling her misery with tears and sadness as of the moment. It was minutes of waiting before the door of her room opens. She looked into it and found a girl in uniform with a gift and a lunch box on hands. “Yuki!!!...” she was totally surprised.
“Chi Chi!!!...” Yuki, Yuri’s bestfriend, dashed her way to catch her friend, who is running toward her right now, on a tight bear hug. “How are you?!...”
“I’m fine!... I missed you so much!...” she cried but not in misery anymore since someone is already with her to fill that gap.
“Miss you too!...”
“Wait…” Yuri reacted, pushing the girl a little to ask something by face. “How did you get in?...”
“I did not climb your fence…” she joked and Yuri smiled at her somehow. “The Head Empress called me to accompany you today since you’re so down and I can see it clearly…” she smiled back. “Here… I brought something that could lift your spirit!...” she pushed the lunch box to the princess and it was opened right away.
“Waaaaa!... APPLE PIE!...” she jumped.
“I knew it!... you’ll jump right away…” she teased her friend, poking the waist and any sensitive part she knew that would tickle her.
“Stop!... enough Yuki-chan!... I can’t bear the tickles anymore!...” she chuckled.
“Yada!...” she insisted and they went on tickling each other after throwing the things they had on hand on the bed. They keep on doing it until someone barge inside the room without even knocking or asking permission to enter.
“Kei!...” Yuri reacted and the guy runs at her not to protest or to insist about the wedding but to cry about something else. “Why are you crying?...” she asked and Yuki stepped aside to let them have the moment.
Hence, Yuki has no idea that the guy who is now dramatizing like a wife who just had his husband buried yesterday is the official groom of her friend’s nuptial tomorrow.
“He told me that he doesn’t know me!!!...” he overstretched. “I keep on telling him that it was me who gave him the bracelet but he told me that he has no idea about the bracelet!...” he whined.
“Are you sure?...” Yuri asked sympathetically but the guy takes her words as insults.
“Do you think I just make this up…” he raised a brow.
“No it’s not like that…” she empathized and the guy went back on crying. “Maybe he’s affected…” she hypothesized.
“Affected?... to what?...” he asked like dumb.
“About our wedding tomorrow amnesiac!...”
“Wedding?... wait!...” Yuki interrupted. “Don’t tell me Chi that this is your groom tomorrow!...”
“NO!...” Kei objected. “The wedding will be canceled tomorrow since Yuri will become the run away bride!...” he affirmed, giving gesture to her bride to agree but Yuri is not reacting. “Right?!...” he asked instead. “Right?!...” he asked again but still no reaction was deployed. “Hoy!...”
“NO!...” Yuri reacted finally. “I thought you’ll be the one who’ll become the run away groom tomorrow!...”
“Me?!... No way!...” he exclaimed, throwing tantrums anywhere this time. “I thought we had talked about this!...”
“Yes we do!... and you agreed on it once I’ll----” she stopped when she remembered the deal they had a day ago. “Yeah right~”
“That’s him…” Yuri whispered as she pulled Kei to look at the direction she’s referring at. “His name is Yabu Kota…” she introduced, pushing the guy this time to move. “Now talk to him…”
“No…” he shook his head. “I’m not ready…” he giggled.
“Oh really…” she’s irritated. “Then why are you giggling?...”
“Gosh girl!... he’s a hunk…” he bit his lips. “And I can’t just throw myself at him looking like this…” he criticized his glamorous outfit.
“You look good on it…” Yuri applauded just to boast the confidence of the guy.
“Promise?...” he raised a high five just to be sure if the girl is really complimenting him.
“Yes…” she agreed, raising a high five also and the guy starts moving. “Wait!...” she pulled him back.
“What?...”
“I think this is the best time for us to make a deal about our wedding also…”
“Sure…” he agreed, thinking that this is really the good opportunity.
“If I’m right that Yabu is the guy who gave you that thing inside your locket, you’ll be the run away groom at our wedding day…”
“And if you’re wrong, you’ll be the run away bride…”
“DEAL…”they both agreed.
“You remember it now…” Kei vaunted, showing off that the deal was over and he won precisely.
“No…” Yuri objected not as a response but as a dispute on Yabu’s denial. She pulled the guy, who is still boasting his triumph beside her, as she dragged herself outside the room. “Yuki stay here for a while… I and Kei had something to do…” she bided before closing the door.
“Where are you bringing me?...” Kei protested.
“To him!...” she exclaimed and the dragging went lightly.
--------------------------------------------
“I’m such a looser…” Yabu murmured repeatedly while detaining himself at the corner of the kitchen in between the wall and the oven. He had been sitting there for almost an hour but still he’s there, telling himself again and again that he’s nothing but a low life servant only. “I think I deserve----” he jolted, causing him to cut his statement in the middle, when two familiar voices draw inside the kitchen while bickering over senseless matters. “It’s the princess and---”
“What are you doing there?...” Yuri asked, looking down at the guy who is fitting himself at the small space provided by the wall and the oven.
Kei peeped in to see the area being sighted by the girl. And to his surprise, “Woah!... how could you fit yourself in that corner?...”
Yabu got stunned that he can’t move an inch from where he was situated. He had no intention to stay frozen in front of the two forever but his body is numbed, totally numbed by the stare of the guy who is causing a twinge inside him.
“Are you ok?...” Yuri asked as she bends her knees to hunker at the front of the guy who is now getting paler and paler. “Yabu-san!...” she shook the guy and a grunting reaction was heard. “Gomen… did I hurt you?...”
“I’m fine you’re highness…” he bowed, pushing himself to stand little by little. “I’m sorry… I was just trying to cool myself…”
“Cool?... in between the oven and the wall?...” Kei asked sarcastically.
“Yes…” he bowed dumbly.
“Yuri we’re wasting our time here… let’s go…” he demanded, switching himself as the dragger this time.
“Wait!...” Yuri pulled back. “Allow me to talk to him first…” she justified but the guy insisted on pulling her again. “I said allow me---”
“Kei!...” a called that interrupts everything including the dragging. Yuri and Kei looked back to see Yabu handing a thing wrapped in a handkerchief. Yuri knows what’s inside the handkerchief and she did not flinched about it but the problem is the way how the chef is trying to convey his action. It is like that the thing is being returned so as the feelings and importance on it. “I’m sorry… I broke it…” he lied because it was Yuri who snapped it actually.
“Broke the what?...” Kei reacted, grimacing in disappointment as he loosens his grip to Yuri while moving toward the guy to get the thing.
“The one I received from you fifteen years ago…” he frowned.
Kei gave a stern look at the guy before he starts unwrapping the cloth. The moment he unraveled the object inside, he cried not in misery but in joy. Finally he had found the thing he’s been looking for or rather the person who possesses that thing he’s been searching for. “Why did you lie to me yesterday and this morning?!...” he dumped the beads on the face of the guy.
“Because I don’t want to stop you from marrying the princess…” he justified.
“You don’t… what?!...” he reacted angrily.
“I don’t want you to---”
“Shut up!...” he yelled, throwing the picked item he just got from his pocket to the floor. “I was wrong about you!... I should have not trusted you!...” he ran away afterwards.
In an instant, Yabu looked at the other side as he hates to see the guy crying, running and hating him at the same time. It hurts of course because this is the first time they meet again but he lied right away and even disheartened the guy in the end. What can he do? Everything is still in the law of money and he can’t change a bit of it. Kei will stay on the top forever and he’ll remain at the ground unnoticed.
“Yabu-san…” Yuri called his attention and he abided naturally. “Kei had no intention to marry me and so do I…” she explained but the guy appears unresponsive and oblivious, it is just like she’s talking to someone who is apparently not present. “Yabu-san!...” she exclaimed a little and the guy jerk a head to stare at her straightly. “Take this…” she handed the thing she had picked from the floor, it was the last item that was thrown by Kei before absconding. “Hope this could help you…” she pushed it on the hand and the guy accepted it with respect since the approach is more like a demand than an offer. “Have you remembered the words you had said to me before?...”
“Huh?...” he’s apathetic.
“Like is something you can give up but love is the opposite… once you love something you can’t give it up because no matter what happened Mr. Heart will search that something to reach his satisfaction and if you ignore him… he’ll cry and eventually die…” she cited the verse precisely and the guy gave her a look of realization. “Think of it again Yabu-san… since I learned that from you…” her last reminder before leaving the place completely.
Yabu looked down to see the item that was given to him. It’s a locket with a push button at the back and an engraved name at the front. “Inoo Kei…” he smiled, reading the name and pressing the button to unlock. The revealed object made him cry that he wants to shout in frustration. “I never knew that he kept this…” he sniffed. “This was the wrapper of candy I’ve shared with him fifteen years ago…” he sobbed. “Why did he kept this rubbish?...”

~WEDDING DAY~
“Are you ready?...” Kei asked, narrowing an eye to his bride as he heaves his hand on the air.
“Anytime…” Yuri retorted, shaking her hand in front of her groom before she heaves it up also.
“Jock n’ Poy!...” they chanted together, beating their fisted hand in between their faces while thinking on what figure to be drawn in order to take the side of the game. “Again~” they reacted when two rocks where bet.
“How long are we going to do this?...” Yuri asked, seemed exhausted already.
“As long as we can determine if who among the two of----” he was cut when the ring of the bell starts playing together with the tune of the piano. “I have to go…” he bided since the groom should be on the altar before the procession starts but his bride hold him back. “Let go!...”
“I will!... if you agree that----”
“No!...” Kei insisted. “I’m not doing the run away thing!... it’s kind of embarrassing for a guy to leave the altar!... and besides according to the research and statistics, run away bride has outdoes the number of run away groom…”
“So what do you mean?...” she’s in too much fury already that her hand is fisted on the side ready to punch the guy anytime. (in her thoughts---“Hold back Chi… hold back…”)
“So it’s normal or should we say that run away bride is much more accepted or much more common than run away groom!!!...” he justified and the grip on his arm tightened. “Let go shorty…” he glared.
“Fine!... then lets get married…” she declared, beaming her most devilish grin just to threaten the guy.
“You’ve got to be kidding me…”
“I’m not…” she smirked and the guy went wailing, clinging at her while begging to stop the joke. “No I’m not joking!...” she clarified.
“OK!...” he gave up. “I’ll do it!!!...”
~At the Aisle~
“I never thought to have this walk so early in my life…” Yuri mumbled as she takes her slow-paced step to the lane where most of the single woman who had their goal to become a wife had their walk-to-remember. Everyone, except her groom who is fidgeting at his place, is smiling at her relentlessly while waving and bowing at her presence. Everything is set perfectly that the ambiance of the church has this captivated feeling of this-is-it. All the people who had been with her in the coronation ceremony are also present including the Head Empress who is sitting next to the Prime Minister in a specialized couch prepared for them. Yuki was also invited together with her foster parents who are now crying solemnly on their seat. “I understand them… they’re not ready to see me in this situation…” she sighed.
“STOP THE WEDDING!!!!...” a squawking cry coming from entrance draws everyone’s attention to look back. It was Yamada, panting on his knees and catching the breath he had spent from running. “This must be stop…” he grunted.
“Arrest him!...” the immediate order that was made by the Head Empress while gesticulating to her guards to cuff the guy but before she was abided a loud screeching shot coming from nowhere killed her in the process.
“Obasama!!!...” Yuri cried and everyone inside the church stampeded the aisle to depart the place. “Let me through!!!... Let me through!!!...” she begged, trying her best to push trough but the force is too strong that her feet are being drag toward the door. Fortunately, someone had grabbed her wrist before she was shoved outside the church completely. “Yuki!...”
“Come with me!...” Yuki dragged her friend toward the door located at the back of the altar but someone whom she had remembered seeing at the school disrupted her attention so as her pace. “Chi isn’t he the guy who was with you---” she was cut when the guy, who was supposed to be arrested by the guards, points a gun toward the direction of the person she just saw. “NO!!!...” she yelled, pushing Yuri on the side as she draw herself to stop the gunfire but the bullet had struck her chest in advance.
“YUKI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...” Yuri shrieked, crawling her way to reach her friend but someone had pulled her outside the church using the secret door designed at the wall of the chapel. “Let go!!!... Let go!!!...” she whined but the guy persisted on dragging her.
“Let her go Takaki!!!...” Yamada yelled while aiming a gun at the guy. “I swear I’ll shoot you if you don’t release her!...”
“Really?...” he mocked, digging a hand inside his pocket to grab the gun as his backup.
“Yes…” he’s damn serious.
“Fine…” he released the girl by pushing Yuri in between them. “But let her choose…” he proposed.
“NO!!!...” Yuri objected but her protest was hazed by a brooooming sound when a motorcycle coming from the corner of the wall drive through their side speedily. She was heaved by the rider on the waist and was brought outside the gate in an instant. It was fast, terribly fast that she can’t even remember the reaction of the two who were left dumbfounded in the scene. “Who are you?!!!...” she struggled. “Release me!!!!...”
“Stop struggling!!!...” replied by the rider.
“NO!!!...” she insisted and the motorcycle stopped. “Get your hands off me!!!...”
“NO!!!...” insisted by the guy as he open the eye shield of his helmet. “You’re coming with me whether you like it or not…”
“Why you're doing this to me?...” she sobbed knowing that the person who just snatch her is no other than her butler.
“Because you’re mine…”
