CHAPTER 3

“How long will you hibernate in this room Simon?...” asked by the guy as he lit his cigarette in front of the boy who is until now terrified of the so called culture shock of the 21st century. Well, what can he expects? Simon had lived in a place where no cars could kill a person by just crossing a street, no airplane to be used while crossing a sea, no hookers could be seen asking him to have sex with her in exchange of money and no talking technological things that could even make him see the world in just a day. It’s totally sickening for the boy to adjust that fast if all in the past were just horses, magic mirrors that only his sister has and a messenger who can’t even be on time on giving news of what’s happening in the world. In other words, Simon is now freaking out of all the new things he could see around him and he can’t just embraced them right away if he himself can’t even believe that he’s wearing someone’s body who is far too young to his age.

“Give me time… please…” Simon said, begging while covering himself with a woolen blanket. “I can’t just step out there knowing nothing on how to dodge those running wheels which keeps on honking at me if I step on a wrong way…”

“That’s why I’m here…” he faced the boy with his arms spread out wide on his sides. “I’m going to help you…”

“I don’t need your help…”

“Don’t be stubborn little boy…” he sat beside Simon. “You’re sister asked me to summon you because you have work to do. I can’t let you stay here any longer if the girl you’re looking for is now about to meet the guy of her dreams…”

“I can find her just give me time to stay here a little longer…”

“You’ve been staying here for a month already. Don’t expect me to be patient anymore…” he said like a warning but Simon isn’t listening. The guy even hugged the blanket to show reject on what he just said. “You give me no choice…” he sighed and Simon looked up on him with eyes still as scared as before. “Come on boy…” he grabbed the arms and Simon flinches in fear. He would like to do this harmlessly but the boy is making a struggle which forced him to drag Simon out the room with grip almost breaking the boy’s bone. “Don’t make me break your arm Simon…” he forewarned.

“Then I demand you under my sister’s name to get your hands off me!...”

“Don’t expect me to listen to that. You’re not in your era anymore…”

“But I am still a prince!...”

“I said… not anymore…”

“What the hell is that?...” asked by the man as he reached out his finger to wipe off something on his son’s face. “Is that make-up?!...” he unbelievably asked then when he found out that the sticky thing on Yuya’s face is a concealer polished by a brown silk-like powder that his wife will usually wear. “Are you gay?!...”

“No DAD!...” he denied strongly right away.

“Then why do you have that on your face?...”

“It’s a long story…” he scratched on his head and then he tucked his bag on his shoulder to turn around and to run as fast as he can outside the house. He doesn’t want to avoid his father but he can’t tell him what had happened. His father is very keen after all on knowing if he’s lying or not. It will be a shame if he’ll be caught coward by his own father who keeps on telling him and his brother to be a man who can face up anything. But why didn’t it work? Why the make-up was noticed? He thought make-up could do magic then why in just one look, his father could tell how fake it is already? “I should have not agreed with her…” he sighed as he remembered how strong he protested but ends up agreeing instead when he saw that sharp look on his mother’s eyes while painting his face with powders.

Kei turned a head right away to see the person who just tapped his shoulder in a trembling manner. “Yes?...” he blinked his eyes as he asked the boy to speak his intentions.

“Thanks…” said by the boy while giving Kei a shameful but twinkling eyes that are so cute to be described.

“Oh…” he smiled as he can now remember that the boy was the one he just saved from the guy he battered with a pebble the moment he and his sister entered the school today. “It was nothing…”

“But it means everything to me…” he replied as he held on Kei’s hand to have a hand shake with him. “I’m Daiki…”

“Then I’m Kei…” he introduced himself then to return the favor.

“Do you have time?...” he asked all of a sudden.

“Right now no because I have to sort out the books in the library but later yes, why do you ask by the way?...”

“I want to treat you with something just to pay your kindness…”

“You don’t have to…” he smiled and then he patted Daiki on the head. “But if you want to have lunch together later, then sure but I’ll pay my bill…”

“Hey Yuki…”

She frowned right away for she knew what’s next after it. “If this is about my brother again please give me a break…”

“I just want you to give this to him…” she showed Yuki the bento she created early this morning which consists of too many heart-shaped vegetables on it with a letter saying blahblahblah that Kei doesn’t even give a damn about it. “Can you tell him also if he’s free, can I---”

“He’s busy…”

“Come on Yuki!...” said by the other girl, the one who must be pushing the girl in front of her right now to be this persistent. “Don’t be selfish about your brother. You know how famous he is…”

“Yes I know but that doesn’t mean I have to be a bridge for all of you to get into him…”

“But I just wanna tell him my feelings…” insisted by the girl who still keeps on pushing the bento on Yuki’s hands. “Can’t you just do this one little thing for me?...”

“Why don’t you just give it straight to him?...” she knotted her forehead.

“He won’t accept it…” she frowned. “He never accepts anything unless it comes from you…”

“Is he that pretty for you to stalk him like this?...” Hikaru asked while snooping around Kota’s back who keeps an eye at Kei who is now sorting out books at the library shelves. “This makes me think of you as gay…” he snorted as he sees this too ridiculous to begin with and a whack was returned on his head. “Ouch, that hurts…”

“Just get the hell out of here if you’re not that useful…” Kota said while thinking of something he could do just to get the revenge he wanted.

“Can’t you just let it pass…” Hikaru pouted. “He’s not like someone you had fought before and his Inoo Kei by the way, the honor student that everyone respected so much…”

“Inoo…” he clicked his tongue and then he makes a snorting sound. “Hell I care…”

“Hope you know what you’re doing…” Hikaru sighed helplessly. It looks like Kota can’t be stop anymore unless that cute little lady will be around again to save the day. “How I wish she’s here…”

“Who?...” Kota asked while making a move already on reaching out the nearest shelf he could kick to destroy the stack of books that Kei had just done doing.

“That girl who stepped in between you just this morning…”

That makes him stop from pursuing for a while. The face of the girl he saw this morning sinks in inside his thoughts again and it makes him feel like he’s frozen on his spot all over again. “I don’t like her…”

“I don’t think so…” Hikaru starts to tease for he knows how Kota acts when the guy is shy about something. “You almost lost your cool when she faced you with those eyes too brave enough to stare back at you…”

“She’s nothing…”

“I don’t believe you…”

“I said, I’m not interested at her…”

“Then to whom are you interested? At him?...” he pointed at Kei who is now brushing off some sweat from working on with the books at the third level of the shelf.

“No!...” he hissed angrily. “Why would I?...”

“Because as far as I can see…” he moved closer to whisper the next of his teasing words at Kota’s ear. “He looks exactly like her…”

That moved Kota to look closely at Kei who is now putting up a thumb on his lips while looking sweetly at the books on the shelf, probably reading them one by one if the placement is accordingly arranged. It’s true that Kei looks exactly like her only that his hair is short and he got no curves like her but if he’ll disregard the fact that Kei is a guy, he will fall on Hikaru’s trap on making him think that maybe he’s doing this revenge because he got interested at the guy already without knowing it. “I’m not crazy…” he said as he turned at his bestfriend’s face to show the deadliest glare he could give but someone distracts him which caught his attention back to look at Kei who talked at that someone. “They knew each other?...” he asked himself as he watches his brother talking shyly at the guy.

“No one in this school doesn’t know Kei…” Hikaru emphasized, “Except you maybe who is not attending classes most of the time…” and he added with caution.

“Let’s get the hell out of here…” he turned around to leave immediately.

“Are you sure? I thought you wanted revenge?...”

“I thought you wanted me to just let this pass?...” he asked back as he glared at his bestfriend’s goofy face.

“Wow…” he got mesmerized. “You changed your mind that fast?...”

“I always change my mind…” he turned back on walking and leaving immediately.

“I don’t think so…” Hikaru murmured, just soft enough for Kota not to hear it. “You just hate your brother that’s why you change your mind…”

Ryosuke sighed deeply as soon he saw the person outside the door of his house. He knew who it is even only the back of the guy is all he can see from the window his staring at right now. And it is expected already that every morning, this guy will arrive to ring their bell just to see his step-sister who doesn’t even care at all. “Yuri…”

“Good morning Ryosuke…” he sweetly smiled right away the moment he faced the brother of his crush. “Is Mika here?...”

“She’s always here…” he replied as he let Yuri in inside his house. “Are you here to fetch her?...”

“How I wish yes but you know…” he sadly pulled a frownon his face. “She doesn’t like anyone except you…”

“You know she’s shy…” he reasoned out, “She will eventually like you if---” he added with emphasis, “You’ll stop that chick-boy attitude of yours…”

“Hey!...” he feign a punch on Ryosuke’s arm. “I’m a not a chick-boy and it’s not my fault if they like me. I’m not the one asking them to chase me; they’re the one begging at me to face them…”

“That is still the same…” he snorted and someone came running down the stairs to push Yuri away from him. “Mika!...” he was surprised of his sister’s sudden outrageous behavior.

“I told you not to visit me anymore!...” Mika said while pushing Yuri to go outside the door. “How many times should I tell you to stop courting me already…”

“I’m sorry if you hate to see me now but I’m not giving up on you Mika…” Yuri said while letting her do the push and drag outside the door.

“I don’t like you!...”

“It’s ok…” Yuri said while watching her loathing him even he can’t understand why. “I can always wait…”

“So how was it boy?...” asked by the man after dragging the scaredy-boy with him in all the places he could think of. “It’s not that fearsome anymore, right?...”

“I don’t know…” Simon said while looking everywhere. “I feel like nauseated after all the ride we did on that four-wheeled thing…”

“It’s a car Simon, not a four-wheeled thing. You should learn the names of it for you not to be label dumb and fool by anybody…”

“I’m not dumb nor fool…”

“I didn’t say anything like that and please refrain from talking that way. You sound like an old man…”

“Really?...” he asked unbelievably. “But this is how I speak…”

“Then learn how to speak like me…”

“I don’t like your words or your tone. You sound like a peasant…”

“Peasant is not used in this era anymore, Simon. Squatters, beggars, poor idiotic bunch of fools and low life people are the words that you should learn from now on. And change that tone of yours. It doesn’t suit your looks. Remember, you’re not anymore blond but a black-haired boy who looks decent but can be sensual sometimes. And I should call you in a different name by the way…”

“Simon is fine. I don’t need other names…”

“It’s not other names but an alias…”

“What’s an alias?...”

“A name used by an assassin or by a detective or simply by a person like you just to cover his identity while carrying out a plan…”

“That sounds pretty interesting. What name you could give me then?...”

“I think this name will sound good on you…” he peered closely at the boy. “I should call you….”

A/N: Better not to know Simon’s name for everybody to be curious if who he is…
