In all earnestly the youngest BEST member was practicing his steps for the new dance. Step left, head right and then it was time for the twist. But every time he did that last part, he lost his balance and he crashed onto the ground.
In the back of the practice room he heard a familiar laughter, but he didn't even bother to look at the person that had nestled himself near the heater with an content smile on his face as the younger struggled with the dance he himself had memorized already hours ago.
"Hikaru you jerk," he muttered as he rubbed his sore arms that broke his fall just a little. He pouted, that would become a nasty bruise. No short sleeved t-shirts for a while, he noted in the back of his head. He didn't want to end up like poor Chinen, who had showed his bruises to the whole of Japan after he fell during the Dome concert. He didn't like failing and he certainly didn't like failing and letting others know about it. Maybe that's why the fact that the older boy was looking how he was in pain made him both angered him but also made him feel slightly uncomfortable.
"Why are you even here? Aren't you supposed to be long gone?"
It looked like the brunette had to think that question over a little and then a sly grin appeared on his face. "Because it's cute watching you fail, fall and pout. Better than going home and doing nothing. "
Daiki now grunted in annoyance, "why am I even talking to you?"
Another laughter and teasingly the older boy sang, "because you luuuuuuve me~"
"I do not!" The younger hissed maybe a little bit too fast which left Hikaru a little bit taken aback.
Instead of backfiring something Hikaru stood up and left the room, leaving the younger band member alone. Was the older boy upset? He wanted to crawl up to go after him, but as fast as he had left, the older boy was back again with something in his hand.
Daiki stared at it for a bit, but only realized what it was when he felt the coldness of the icepack touch his skin. He shivered a little, but afterwards questioned whether this was because of the icepack, or because of the strangely tender look the older one was giving him. As if he felt sorry for his laughing earlier. Daiki resisted a smile. It was the soft and tender side of Hikaru showing now. One that usually only showed when no one else was around, and he had almost forgiven the older boy for laughing at him. Almost.
"I was just joking Dai-chan. I know you don't like guys." His voice was soft. Almost sad as he spoke the words carefully while holding the icepack on it's place.
The black haired boy was amazed, where did that come from? And more over. It wasn't even true. He did like boys. He just never said so out loud because he felt like no one needed to know if they didn't ask him about it. The only member who knew was Inoo. Because the older boy had straight forwardly asked him once when they were alone in the dressing room. But since no one else bothered to ask him, he never bothered saying it. As simple as that.
"What makes you think that?" He retorted and now it was Hikaru's turn to be surprised.
He showed of his crooked grin, and laughed awkwardly at the younger boy who now eyed him questioningly. "I-- Well. I just-- You always laugh at girls!"
Slightly annoyed the younger one rolled his eyes, "I'm an idol. Isn't that what I'm supposed to do? Idiot."
"Ah. Yes."
All of a sudden the older one felt nervous, and Daiki knew he was. But why? He eyed the older one carefully, trying to figure out anything from the way he was he was acting. How he shuffled a little bit from side to side. How he carefully kept the icepack at it's place, as if it was a great mission. And how he avoided Daiki's gaze at all coast. It suddenly hit the younger one, and now it was time for a little bit of payback.
"Say Hikaru?" He started, and with a look he was positive of people thought of it as cute (he thought of it as gross, he was already 18 years old damnit), he stared at the other guy, who quickly looked at him and then turned his gaze back towards the icepack (which had almost completely melted). "What if I told you I liked boys?"
The ice pack fell, and so did Hikaru's usual casual, jokingly attitude which he tried to pick up non the less. "I,- Okay. Well, do you?"
The younger didn't answer, but just continued, "what if I told you I like you? Yaotome Hikaru."
The devil inside his head threw a party when he saw the older boy slightly panicking, his gaze shifting from one side to another, and back towards the young who suddenly sat awfully close. "I would say,- Yeah. Well... Do you?"
Daiki said nothing, he just leaned a little bit over so his lips could touch Hikaru's. For a split second he was scared the older boy would push him away, but surprisingly the brunette deepened the kiss and Daiki smirked. "Yeah. I do."
