No, Samantha. People pay corporations to feed their families all along the life-cycle which is, yes, kind of repulsive -- how everything is filled with throwaway whey and needless corn syrup, all to satisfy the food lobby. It is absolutely all the things you said, all along the continuum. But don't make it abt breastfeeding, God. People can't hear it & the risk of hurting someone's feelings because she was on Haldol and couldn't breastfeed or because a ravenous, selfish infant at her breast reminded her of Uncle Rapist -- it's not worth it.
Also, I would question any kind of urban myth like that woman said. "Omg, I heard Walmart fills up with poor people when we are secure in our homes, co-sleeping with our nursing babies!". Like, wtf was her point, anyway? Why would anyone say something so ineffably ridiculous in church? A church where you are all to give voice to the sacred in yr relections? Gross.
it was during joys and concerns. I think it was something she heard on npr where they were contrasting the holiday sales of the most expensive items at tiffany's with the walmart midnight baby formula run. people were very talky in meeting sunday. someone rose and said something about how wisdom is best contained in stories and then everyone had a story.
