Weight Watchers is sponsoring a contest for people to submit their success stories: before/after pix and a 400-word essay (or three-minute video) that highlights their accomplishments. Grand prize is a trip to New York City, and I would be *thrilled* to go there twice in one year. Being more of a word person, I'm submitting an essay. I would ( Read more... )

Very nice. Nothing confusing or off-putting.

I like the bit about how the way you feel about yourself has changed, and that you feel people treat you differently not directly because of the weight loss but because of how you present yourself in the world, which has changed.

Thanks! My story isn't as dramatic as some. For example, I didn't have diabetes or other serious illness. But someone at my meeting encouraged me to compete because she said that a lot of people might relate to the down-to-earth simplicity.

The odds are pretty long. Only one essay from the entire western half of the country warrants a trip to NY (and publication in the monthly magazine). But it seems worth a shot.
