Interesting that the Dems. are getting their knickers in a knot over the nomination of John Roberts to the Supreme Court. After all, he is a man that has gone on record saying he does not believe that Roe v. Wade should be overturned. But on a more serious note: I think that you bring up some very interesting and valid points here. I think I will ponder on them further and we can discuss more.

Yeah, not too many people know that about RvW.
I'm not the most informed individual, but when I argue my ass off about something, like those dems do about this topic, I'd at least know the ramifications about it.

Oh, and I heard that if you are religious you shouldn't be able to vote ;)

From what I gather about Supreme court Judges is that their general out look on things change drastically when they become a SCJ. They are not just settleing disputes or criminal cases any longer...its a matter of the Constitution now. They have a fundamentally different duty. They don't just decide if a case should go one way or another- all they do is say if the issue in the case is Constitutional or not...bang. We'll see how things go with him as a representative of the whole nation as opposed to a representative of a specific region of said nation.

There is a capitol hill internship specifically for seminarians dealing with the intersection of theology and politics. I would absolutely love to do it.

I didn't see them yet, I'll have to check it out!
