Low German

Since I have been here, I have been hearing the word , "Plattdeutsch".  Plattdeutsch, for those who do not know, is a regional dialect/language spoken in the Lower Saxon part of Germany (my location). Based on what many Germans have told me, I believe that Plattdeutsch is a mixture of German and Dutch (or Hollandisch).    Here is the Wikipedia ( Read more... )

To me, it is much more difficult to talk in Plattdeutsch. I understand almost anything, but I'm not able to answer. xD

WOW I understood almost every word.... That is so funny, it is a mixture of old german and dutch...

I am glad you are getting better and that you are having fun over there...

I didn't know Namibia was a country until I met three Namibians on a plane to Athens this summer. They all spoke Afrikaans natively and taught me a few words. It was pretty cool. Now I know they speak German there too!
