Carl bashed his teeth in at daycare today.  They said he was bouncing a toy off the floor and hit himself in the mouth.  His two front teeth are nearly completely mushed up into his gums, and the two teeth on either side of those are twisted and bloody.  He's pretty disfigured, and he started to lisp.  I called the dentist and the pediatrician, and ( Read more... )

One of my nephews did something similar when he was young -- pushed his two front teeth back up into his gum. The doctor said it was unlikely that a kid would do permanent damage to his gums.

The lisp is probably caused both by the swelling and the relocation of the teeth (his tongue's roadmap is all off). As he heals, that should improve.

As far as being supervised by the day care -- kids move fast and accidents happen even faster. I know you are upset and concerned, and should be, but he will be okay.

Sounds like the little boy will be visiting the dentist early. Hope Carl comes out ok.
