Is there a good reason why the phrases “Federal National Mortgage Association” and “Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation” are absent from most media reports about yesterday’s takeover of those GSEs? (e.g. nytimes, wapo, latimes.)

I don't know, but the mortgage/financial services biz never uses their full names. They almost never use the full name of anything. I find it a bit irritating.

I'd been meaning to research what their names actually were. So thanks for that--it's annoying to me, too.
