A ficlet that evolved into a fic for
ms_pie who gave the mood “angry” and the prompt, “here’s to you and here’s to me/best of friends we ever be/but if by chance you screw with me/ then screw you and here’s to me,” which I stretched and abused to make this work.

Awesome, just awesome. And how did you know that I just *needed* some Wallace & Veronica fic for Christmas? :-)
Loved this:
Wallace opened her front door and pointed down. “Veronica Mars, meet your closest cousin.”
“What?” Veronica followed his finger, searching the ground. “What am I looking for?”
“The doormat.” He answered, tugging her back in. “Since when did my best friend become the squishy green plastic that guests wipe their feet on?” He cocked an eyebrow and crossed his arms, leaning back into the arm of the couch. “It must’ve been while I was gone, because seriously, V. I’ve never seen a sadder case.”
Her cheeks reddened in response. “I’m not a doormat. I’m loyal.”
“So loyal you’re willing to sacrifice your life as you know it for Duncan and Meg’s kid? That’s not loyalty, Veronica. It’s stupidity.”
I can just totally see this happening... Great take on their relationship and Wallace's perspective on her life.
And that final line? Perfection!
Thanks so much!

“It would be better if you were back too, Veronica.”
Perfect twist on the situation. :) Well done!

I really kind of hope that V starts to listen to W now that he's back and stop being so selfish and self-absorbed. It was interesting to see Mac even call V out on her self-centeredness, a nice echo between Mac and Wallace that really ought to make V go "Wow, I really am kind of drifting in self-absorbtion here," but ALAS, that has yet to occur.
