Poetry...

I
Sense memory recalls,
The tenderness,
In your voice as you
Sang.

As I listen to
Oh! Darling
I remember you.

II
Remembering
A handsome face that
Lights up with
A brilliant cheeky smile.

III
Gentle soft hands,
I tear my eyes
Away from those
Hands.

IV
Piano music,
Chords that follow
You wherever you
May go.

V
Proof that you
Exist in
That deep mellifluous
Voice.

VI
Electric shock
Straight through to
My heart when
Our hands brush.

VII
Beautiful eyes
I fall into
When you
Look at me.

VIII
A jolt from
A glance
Across the room
A wink, a smile, I swoon.

IX
Cool intellect
Poetry breaks through
The shell of carbon
Hiding you.

X
You look me in
The eyes every time
Take what I say as if
It really matters.

XI
A willingness to
Teach me
Piano. Does it translate
To love?

XII
I hide behind
A book I’m only
Reading for the 100th time
So I don’t have to look

XIII
You ask me inane
Questions about
Poetry and authors
And I answer stupidly.

XIV
A new day
Knocks at my window
Hair in pin curls
School with you

XV
A smile from
You greets me in the
Harsh light of the
Music room.

XVI
“Your hair’s different today,”
You hesitate a moment
A smile playing
About your lips. “You look nice.”

XVII
I watch your fingers
Against the neck
Of the guitar
Pure talent in your veins.

XVIII
Your mouth
A sweet and gentle
Caress that
Dances when you speaks

IVV
I reach out
For you
Your hand reaches
Mine.

VV
Words flow from
You a passage in
Time
“Sing with me?”

I
Fingers long and white,
Eyes that take
A distant glance across,
The room.
A beautiful,
Darkly creative soul,
Shattered
Beyond repair.

II
Autumn comes,
Rain and cold.
Wet streets,
Reflect broken hearts
With streetlamps and
The moon.
Leaves change
You stay
The same as ever.

III
I never thought
Someone could
Be foolish enough
To fall
In love with you.
Heart racing,
Palms sweaty,
Knees weak,
Hands shaky.

IV
As I walk
Alone
Along darkened streets,
Thoughts whirl
Distant stars above
Me
Winking sleep
Forgetting the heart
For a moment.

V
Deperire unapparent
Neglected angor between
Immaterial perpetuity.

VI
Ivory keys pressed on
Ebony pianos
In
Deep vespertine Sorrow.
Refusal to relinquish
A heart.

VII
Rain falls
Unrelenting tears
Of your angelic counterparts.
