I do not know the novel, but I did look it up just now. I could easily see it be what inspired her name...and maybe the novel's plot can also be a theory behind Lolita's mysterious story...although Victor Goth or another Goth becoming her stepfather and having a taboo sexual relationship with her is a bit dark. But who knows?

I always giggle when I see her name, because 'Gothic Lolita' is a branch of Lolita fashion. Her name is the perfect pun! :P I've become quite attached to her, I must admit.

You're probably right and it was the fashion they named her after :P Lolita really is a very controversial novel so probably something EA wouldn't touch with a barge pole... at least not publicly. After all they must have known a least a bit about the book when they went ahead with that name... it's interesting!

I agree, it is very interesting! That's why I decided to do this challenge, because EA and Maxis were so clever with names! Some are ingenious, while others make you frown. Like Hamm Hogleg. That name is just weird. XD
