Tezuka hated the rain. Despite his love of nature and his relatively apathetic attitude towards the phenomenon in public, he always found himself cringing mentally at the sight of those first few drops falling onto the pavement. The water seemed to stain the world around him, turning even the brightest colors on the horizon into a drab, grey landscape.

Even now, well into his twenties he could never feel completely comfortable when the weather turned bleak, and would often keep to his apartment. His stoic reputation was not helped by this fact, but Tezuka refused to care. He knew who he was and what he wanted to achieve, and neither of those things involved having very much of a social life.

A brush of fur against his pant leg brought him back to the present, prying his gaze from the fogging window and the sea of umbrellas far below. Hazel eyes softened as the cat hopped onto his lap and he spared a hand from his tea mug to pet the soft fur. Behind him he could hear the light snores of the tawny cat's master, still fast asleep despite the pounding on the window.

The flash of lightening illuminated his face before the resulting clasp of thunder threatened to wake the slumbering prince. The sheets whispered against bare skin as Echizen turned to face him, sitting up and rubbing at tired eyes.

"It's raining." Was the first thing out of the younger man's mouth. Tezuka sent him an amused look over his glasses. He did not need to respond; Echizen had always understood. "Come back to bed."

Slipping back beneath the warming sheets, Karupin curling around his feet, Tezuka thought that the rain might not be all that bad if he could spend the day wrapped up around the one who would not care what he hated, so long as he also loved as well.

So Tezuka did just that.
