Hrm, today is a one-day respite from the chaos of orientation that has enveloped the campus, as the new school year officially begins tomorrow. This has been a long week. Ah, spring is in the air... actually, not really. It`s overcast and windy today, and you can`t walk too far without being pelted by a bunch of little pink petals. I find it interesting that in Japan they seem to think that they can predict earthquakes as well as they can predict the weather. I learned today that our earthquake watch level has risen. The prediction of a big earthquake in the Tokai region was announced about a year ago, so everyone is still rather worked up about it. (as opposed to california ( Read more... )

Well, as promised the Honan Matsuri was very, well... phallic. A little too much, actually. I think that the Hadaka Matsuri that I went to last month was a lot more fun. Gave a 3 minute speech in class today, I was amazed at how fast I succeeded in memorizing the thing, it went without incident, but I`m jealous that the lower classes get to do skits, and we have to do formal speeches. Hmm, I honestly think that Japanification has screwed up my concept of prices. I remember in the US looking at the prices of cospa costumes and gawking in horror of the price...
