I'm afraid I must admit I am unfamiliar with the author's works, but...It would seem the author or the character in question sees little point in purposely denying oneself what one wishes in the context that much of what is considered forbidden was once not so, or is becoming less forbidden, or indeed was made forbidden for incorrect or insufficient reasons.

It wasn't a problem and I learned how to do sparkle text because of it. A useful skill for the future, I'm sure.
