Yes, and no. Leave Tessa alone, yes. Get over it, it's just a comic. I love it to pieces, too, yes. I'd be sad and disappointed if it ends where it is, but what can I do to change it...? Get on a plane, fly over to the US and bang on Tessa's door?
And no, I'm not surprised that she left no note. 90% of the people on the Internet do that. When they're hospitalized, divorcing, giving birth, mourning, looking for a job, wreck the car, raise their kids, get married, bury the dog, move, have a flu, vacationing, struggling with mortgage, have an art block and die, they leave no notes whatsoever. They seem to be completely unable to spare five minutes to type a reassuring note. My RL friends do that. My online friends do that. It's a pretty common custom. Annoying? YES. Unusual? Hardly.
I don't see where in my post I said that I wanted a comic update from her.
Many people on the internet disappear, it's true. Anonymity allows that. If she was still an independent webcomic artist, your point would be valid. Tessa Stone is not anonymous. She has signed on with a publishing group, which, however small, is now having to deal with professional ramifications due to her behavior. Tessa has claimed that she wants to continue making comics, and her actions have driven away support and hurt her future; THAT is what I'm concerned about, and why I made the comparison with Ai Yazawa. I'm sorry if that was not clear.
I don't see where in my post I said that I thought you wanted a comic update from her.
If you're concerned about HER- woah. I mean- Uh. Concerned about _her_ and her career, really...? O_o Why...? Sure, I think she's a nice, cute girl, but... It's totally not my concern if she lives or dies. Sounds cruel, I know, but facts are facts - she's not a personal friend of mine and if she chooses to, lessay, be an a$$hole and flip the bird to the fans and the company, I don't care. We all have our free will, we can choose how we ruin our lives and we have a right to do it. Who am I - or you, or anybody else - to stop her?
I smell trolls on the approach. The situation is what it is. Making comparisons or griping about it or not griping about it won't change what is happening, so why even exhaust effort over it? If she comes back, fantastic. If she doesn't, then she feels meant to live her life a different way, and we should respect that as we want our life choices to be respected. I hope the OP doesn't take this as an attack on him/her, I think this is a more general comment. I'm seeing these discussions all over the place and it's just getting kind of tiring.
What is this rumor about a lawsuit? I have never heard this, and though I know it's just a rumor, I kinda can't see how it would be sued. Does any one have info on that, or a link or something?
I'm tired of people ragging on her for "being irresponsible and lazy", and I'm tired of people defending her "because she's shy". No one should be speaking for her; she needs to speak for herself. Her silence has been more damaging to her character, her publisher, and her future than the hiatus.
Yep. Not that I care, but if she's wanting to make a career out of this (which, I don't know if she does, but it seems like she would have made the connections to do so) it's a bit damaging.
Anon because I've gotten a lot of flack for having this same opinion.
I'm only upset because it hurts /Tessa/, not because HINABN might not come back. She seems like a nice girl. I want her to make good choices and not throw away what she's earned with so much hard work. People say 'well, that's her decision, she can do what she wants,' but our society is where it is today because people have no expectations of other people. It's important to realize you're part of a greater whole, and you really /do/ owe your fans something, whether you want to recognize it or not. Things like this seem to happen because people don't know better, and it's frustrating to see faux pas being committed by people you care about.
Just wanted to say I understand why you're sharing your thoughts.

As well, no offense meant to the OP, but this pretty much sums up my sentiments. Let's all be cool, babies. Whatever is, is.

Oh well. All the best to her.
