Am having comp issues like nobody's business.
Long story short, the system has stopped recognizing my CD and DVD drives. >.< There's also a nasty case of sluggish, worse than the usual.
Have run both virus scans and spyware scans, with a resounding nothing. To me, it seems like the slowdown might be caused by random programs-I-don't-need are sneaking into Startup, but I can never remember what scary registry things akanesama used to talk me through to check on that.
...And then there's mother. My darling matriarch whom I love and respect. I love her, I do, but I wish she'd stop trying to be helpful when I stress over this.
Her kneejerk reply? "See, this wouldn't happen if you wouldn't download so many files and clog up the memory!"
I ignore, and fuss with defrag (which gave up after 28% completion last night.. WTF? o_O) and such.. She eventually comes back with, "Not yet? You'll probably have to uninstall everything"
..Not without a CD burner to back things up with, I'm not. >_>
I'm just glad she's never heard of the term "reimaging", which I'm considering as my end-of-the-road option. I really don't need her I-Told-You-So-ing should it come to that.
Though the idea of reverting back to factory new is semi-appealing, I worked damn hard to get all this crap installed and cracked and working properly.. ;_;
