BACKGROUND:Hokuto grew up in the Sumeragi family, the older of a set of fraternal twins. While the SUmeragi's were well known troughout Japan for their psychic and medium abilities, the secret that th family guarded was that they were actually mutants. Their stock in trade is exorcisms, locating lost loved ones and the like and they are renowned as the best in the country.
Subaru and Hokuto's parents died when they were both small, leaving the children to be raised by their grandmother, and for one of the twins to become the next clan leader. It soon became obvious that Subaru's abilities far outclassed his sister's, and indeed anyone else that the lan had ever seen. So at a young age he was selected and trained to become the 13th head of the Sumeragi clan. It never really bothered Hokuto that she had not been chosen, she knew her twin had the right personality to be a good head of the family, and besides, that meant that she could devote all her energy to making sure her beloved twin was happy and healthy.
When she found out from their grandmother about the Sakurazukamori targeting Subaru and the gloves that he had to wear she wholeheartedly agreed, and then, seven years later when he moved to Tokyo she came with him, making sure that he took care of himself and was happy. Recently, through Subaru's interest in animals they met Seishirou. Hokuto almost instantly became convinced that this was the man that was meant for her brother (never mind the ten year age difference, this is LOVE, people) and now spends most of the time they are together talking about getting the two of them married. She sometimes gets bad feelings about him, like he's more than he appears (and the family name doesn't help either, but surely there's more than one Sakaurazuka family in Japan?) but the feeling doesn't last very long, after all, how could someone so kind and helpful be a bad man for her brother? And besides, the head of the Sumeragi family and the Sakurazukamori falling in love? It's so romantic!
Imagine Hokuto's surprise when she finds out that her brother has left Tokyo, and with the approval of their grandmother no less. She immediately argues for following her twin to the States, certain in the fact that he won't be able to properly care for or dress himself without her around. Her grandmother relents and soon after Subaru leaves Japan, Hokuto follows him to the Institute.
PERSONALITY: Hokuto considers herself the personal guardian of her brother's happiness. She knows that he puts himself through a lot to make other people happy and wants to make sure that he has someone to do the same for him. She's always trying to cheer him up, and makes sure he eats, gets dressed and goes to class, because if she doesn't then he probably won't. She's fiercely defensive of him and anyone that makes him unhappy or upsets him had better be prepared to deal with her. And yes, that is a serious threat. As far as her own interests go, she likes to cook and design outfits for herself and her brother, she would like to be a fashion designer some day. She's a very friendly girl and likes to make friends with people that she thinks are nice. She's also more than ready to turn her sharp tongue on someone who has earned her wrath (read: bothered/made fun of/upset Subaru.) She's also a shameless matchmaker, and if she thinks two people are destined for each other will do everything in her power to make sure that they get together.
While she might seem completely flighty to many people, Hokuto can also be surprisingly perceptive. She can sense when someone might be a danger to herself or her brother, even if her like of the other person can cloud how dangerous they might be. She also has the same self-sacrificing attitude as her brother, but while his is directed at making everyone else happy she would do anything in her power to make sure that her twin lived a happy life. And I do mean anything.
APPEARANCE:Hokuto is short and thin at 5' and 103 lbs., with black hair in a pixie cut that matches her twin's and bright green eyes. Despite the twins being fraternal they look almost exactly alike, the only real difference being that Hokuto has... well breasts. Other than that it would be very easy to mistake one twin for the other. Her clothing is rather outlandish by most standards, probably because she designs and makes it all herself. Wings, poofy skirts, hats, gloves, capelets in every color of the rainbow, nothing is considered too outrageous for one of her designs. She's usually smiling most of the time and very little ever seems to get her to stop.
POWERS: Like her twin, Hokuto has the Sumeragi family power of energy reading and manipulation. Her powers are not nearly as powerful as her twin's though, which was one of the things that influenced the decision behind making him the head of the Sumeragi clan. Actually, it wouldn't be completely true to say that Hokuto is less powerful than her brother, only that her powers tend to have a different focus. Where Subaru focuses his use on the outside world, Hokuto's focus on herself and her twin. Sort of like twin powers, but more. As a result, her twin and how he is feeling are always like a presence in the back of her mind, and she doesn't mind one bit. Someone has to make sure that Subaru takes care of himself after all, and she knows he won't do it if he's left alone.
Hokuto also has the power of dream-walking, one that she does not share with her twin. This allows her to look into people's dreams and see what is happening, as well as make some minor changes, though this can take a lot out of her. If the other person is also a dream-walker then she can talk to them in the dream. She can only do this while asleep, and a very deep one at that, she is very hard to wake when dream-walking.
ANYTHING ELSE?:Hokuto's native language is Japanese, but she also speaks English quite well.
Hokuto has no memory of the whole time travelley thinger that she had set up appoximately one year into the future, though since it was her ability that made it possible, she may get feelings or glimpses into what happened. I didn't list doing this as one of her powers, because it is strictly a one time, right before she dies last measure thing, and as such she probably won't be using it any time soon. I hope.
