Where there is freedom, those with power will seek to supplant it with their control. The internet's always been a thorn in the side of big businesses and industries. OneManga's closing is a good example of the battle that has given birth to something like this.
Yeah, but this is going to far. Especially the third world country thing is ugly. That's the worst part, of course, but this could also lead to fanfiction becoming an illegal activity.
So this shit not only would ruin our fun but be responsible for God only knows how many deaths. Nasty.
Fanfiction, fanart, iconing, role play, AMVs, using images for blogging, panel recolorings - it would all be heaped upon the pile of "copyright infringement" and make criminals out of people without trial. You would get a criminal record for your IchiRuki fic or your fanart.
Oh, you can have fun! Just have to pay the right people for it first, and it has to be "approved" fun that doesn't violate nearly totalitarian standards of allowable use.
Cos we really make a shitload of money out of fanart and other fan activities, while the poor creators are starving and saving every last penny just to survive.
Over here, there's apparently some new council law which states that photographers (and others, average people) have to pay to take photos of iconic places such as Bondi beach. So I guess pretty soon everything will be copyrighted. Fuck this world.
