Can we clone this man a couple of dozen times and stick him in office across the country?

That's a good reason to support this particular branch of research. :D

But more seriously, I have a lot of respect and am really moved by the courage Mr Burns shows in relating his personal story so that no more children and teenagers have to suffer like this.

Not only that, but to the community that elected him as well. He seems to be openly gay, so its even more amazing that he holds a public office in an era where being gay, poor, pagan, muslim or any social minority in the scope of conservatives and fanatics makes you practically barred from holding an elected position.

Yeah, it is both almost miraculous and at the same time maybe not because it shows that things are changing in some place and that acceptance and tolerance of minorities becomes more wide-spread, despite all of the disheartening hate crimes that still happen.

I remember that here in my home country, we also had an openly gay mayor for the capital, and another prominent politician recently married his long-time boyfriend. But it's awesome to see stuff like this happening in the US, too.
