Only peripherally... his Linux-Foo is STRONG. I'll be nearby.. and able to go to lunch with him if'n he wants (and I hope so!). But I'm in another department. I'll work WITH him occasionally, I'm sure.. and someday when I'm good enough,I'll be able to be in his department. But that won't be for a good while yet.

Very incredible and amazing how quickly you were able to turn around your employment situation and discover unexpected opportunity at Reveille's company.
What an incredible and satisfactory feeling of being wanted/needed immediately, going through all the interviewing steps and receiving the job offer in such a short time span. Congratulations once again. I'm so happy for you that you'll get to stay in California after all, being with all of your friends and not having to give up your social life.
Like you said in your entry -- it's wonderful not to have your current company be the dominating force in your life. *grin* You now have the means and the ability to "move on" from your current working situation in favour of bigger and betterpastures!
Also love the idea of you "learning new skills" in a Linux environment.
All in all, it looks like a win-win situation for the cheetah! *grin* Congratulations once again!
