I live with two cats who are both pretty good hunters, but I know some Bad Mother Fucker mouse has been evading their capture for about a month now. I've seen it once and heard it a few times as well. I haven't noticed its droppings at all and it hasn't been in our human food, so I assumed it was subsisting on cat food (DEFEND YOUR TERRITORIES ( Read more... )

Call the landlady. She should also take care of the rodent problem.

Given that the mouse may have caused more damage to the stove/oven than just peeing in the filter, I definitely think you should call the landlady. Just let her know that you'd really like to avoid replacing the unit, but you thought she should know, and maybe she can have someone come out to take a look at it.

Also, if turning on the oven inadvertently solved the rodent problem, you'll certainly want someone to come out and remove the body before it decays. :p

Until then, my understanding is that the filters themselves are replaceable; so perhaps a google search of the make/model will turn up a user manual that can tell you what filters to use and how to change them.

Good luck!!
