Non-toxic dyes for cats?

So I have three cats and thought it would be cute to have them 'sign' the gifts that I'll be making for my family this year.

Are there any non-toxic-to-cats dyes that I can use on their paws so they can leave their paw prints on the things I intend on making?

I would go with food coloring. I just checked the ASPCA site and they're approved for animals as well as people. Non-toxic stamp pads are probably okay, but what may be non-toxic to a human may well be for cats, so if they don't list the ingredients you won't know exactly what's in them. That said, that's probably overkill and you could always do it quickly then rinse the paw and be fine.
