Why do the songs with the worst lyrics have the catchiest tunes?

I hate that song "Laffy Taffy" almost as much as I hate the Milkshake song. The lyrics to both are beyond stupid. Yet I find them both catchy and extremely dancable

A great voice, high notes, more a case of run and board up the windows! Gawd that song goes right through me, and not in the pleasant of ways.
