yay for kitties!

(although you should also consider the animal shelter, not least because the kitties i've seen at petsmart are really really expensive.)

(of course, i am a firm believer in the superiority of your basic, cheap, all-purpose cat)

how expensive? i think it changes from petsmart to petsmart; i've seen some that charge $90, and some that charge $65, which is the same as the shelter fee. SPCA has a cat that i reeeaaally want listed on their website, but they charge $85. do you think that's expensive for a cat?

yay for kitties indeed!

wow - that's kind of the opposite of where i live - the cats i've seen at petsmart are $100+. my fred, from the local animal control shelter, was $29 (marked down from the usual $58 because he was over 6 months old)(yes, i really do appreciate bargains! but he's a sweetie, i would have paid full price for him).
i will say - shelters often pay for a lot of basic health care (fred came with all of his shots except, i think, feline leukemia, he had been wormed, treated for fleas, microchipped and neutered) - if the spca price covers that sort of thing, $85 is not bad at all.

(i should probably adjust my views of expense - my other cat i got for free, but all her shots, spaying, etc, came to over $200).
