2010 has started very powerfully for me, with already five new artists padding my collection. I think my subscription to last.fm helps drastically in this (those outside the EU and America cannot listen to their radio stations for free. We do however have the option of paying a three dollar a month fee for access to all their content).
I had a great radio station set listed with Pandora, but unfortunately several years ago the US government decided to get really insular with their information policies. As a Canadian I am unable to access certain copywright materials (the discerning factor seems to be guaranteed-made-in-the-usa-commercial-content) like Hulu, Pandora, or even accessing videos on the NBC website or the like. As such, I was more or less forced over to last.fm, which has worked out for me marvelously so far.
