Here's a tip: If you ever apply for a job and they make you take one of those personality surveys (ala PetSmart, etc.), when they ask the question "You don't work too hard because it doesn't pay off anyway" DO NOT click "Strongly Agree". Methinks they're testing me...

That reminds me of one of the questions of the library civil service exam:

If your phone rings and the call is for the reference librarian on the other side of the library do you:

a) Ask the caller to hang up and call the correct extension.
b) Shout across the library that the reference desk has a call on the line.
c) Put the caller on hold and page the reference desk.

I think we all know B is the obvious answer.

Clearly it was made to weed out all those who don't have any clue regarding proper library etiquette. It's much faster to yell, sheesh.

Very few libraries are quiet places any more, so maybe the answer really is B. Saves time, saves money, lets the scary patrons know librarians are bad ass.

And here I thought the answer was "d) lie and say there is no reference librarian."

I HATE those surveys. Even though the answers are usually obvious, I'm always afraid of making a dumb mistake, and I think I occasionally have.
