I haven't participated in a 20in20 comm forever, which sucks, because I used to be crazy about those andnarniacmrand I used to compare notes and squee shock over the characters/number of characters we were doing a month

So much word on everything you said about Tina and the racism that rears its ugly head over and over again in Glee. I loved Mike/Tina but I also found aspects of their relationship very problematic, especially because everything they did was "Asian" rather than them just doing things because they were a couple. Finn and Rachel never had "white couples therapy" or "white kissing." And I hate that the writers say they're trying to be sarcastic or poking fun at a stereotype or discourse. Wrong. It may have started out that way in season one, but as with most things Glee, that's gone more downhill with each passing season. Now they're not mocking it, they're reinforcing it

WHAT ARE YOU, PSYCHIC? I literally have another tab open for tv_couchpotato right now, and I am ogling your sig tag.
Mike and Tina are impossible not to love. Seriously. Despite the chicken feet and his mother. And Finn and Rachel never had "white couples therapy" or "white kissing"? AMEN. This is a shame, because they could have used some couples therapy to begin with. Unfortunately, in season one, when Mercedes said "fly" a lot, it was still balanced by her good-naturedly poking fun at her own stereotype and asking if Kurt wanted to set her up with that hot guy in Home because they were both black. Season one lacked a lot, but season two was full-on in-your-face "Asian everything" and season three had Mike's dad acting like the cliche for, well, no good reason.
Now they're not mocking it, they're reinforcing it.Absolutely. It sucks, because they actually took a huge step forward with Rachel and Brody and all that

Oh yeah, Finn and Rachel definitely needed it more than Mike and Tina did. (Although Rachel seemed to come into her own and do what she felt was best for herself at the end of the last episode, so go her. It's sad because I vaguely remember being a Finn/Rachel fan but now I just... can't.) I really just wish they'd taken it further with Mike's dad rather than wrapping it up all neatly in a bow in an episode and a half. Bullshit. No one can come around that quickly, especially when it's not even Mike's best work.
YES! Sadly enough, my friend who watches Glee happened to text me on the one night where I'd missed Glee because of schoolwork, and he was like, "Looks like in the promo Mike is back but not until November." AND I WAS JUST LIKE, 'THE HELL, MIKE IS COMING BACK? I DIDN'T THINK I'D SEE HARRY'S PRETTY FACE ON THIS SHOW EVER AGAIN. I was also sad since it ruined the surprise, so when I saw the promo I wasn't quite as psyched and OMGOMGOMG. But I'm still happy! It's probably just as a one-off appearance though.
Agreed, points go to Rachel for intermittently waking up to the overdone dramaz of Finchel, even though she keeps getting struck with chronic writer-induced amnesia on these very issues a couple of episodes later. LOLing at you being a former Finchel fan, though :3 The Mike's dad storyline actually started out with a tiny bit of promise, when the writers didn't take the shortcut resolution and have him show up to West Side Story because that was the most dramatic night of Mike's life that season. Then they shot themselves in the foot in the most perfunctory way possible, and never made Mike important again after giving him a decently strong plotline? What even. And what happened to booty camp? Oh, Will, you paedobear, you.
LOL yor firend, how dare he ruin the joyous news with spoilers ;P But at least the OMGOMGOMG of psychitude was had when he texted you? But even a one-off appearence is better than never seeing him again. That is my rationale towards Jonathon Groff's geometric progression decline on the show :x I'm still pissed off

Wow, you're the first maker to use me as an inspiration for the Mentor challenge and I must say that I feel incredibly flattered and grateful, so thank you so, so much for this! <3 Secondly, I think it's great that you incorporated in your work elements from each maker without mimicking any of their styles. My favourites are 2, 6, 14 and 17, but I like the creativity of the compositions and text use in all of them. c:
Thank you so much, Val ♥ I had no idea you would even see this, but I'm really stoked to hear what you think, and especially that you like them :3 It was a no-brainer to have you as an icon-making inspiration, especially because of how much your style has changed over time, and I especially love how marvellously super-complex and supercharged your current icons are.
I guess it would have been cheating and borderline rip-off to directly copy other people's styles, because even though imitation is the best form of flattery, people take years and hard work to get the style they currently have, and it seems like a shortcut to copy that?
Haha, I have my ways~ to find things. Basically, LJ Search. But really, thank you, you're too sweet for words and you made my day (twice!). ♥
I don't know, I usually find it fascinating, because despite using another maker as inspiration, you usually can still recognize the maker's original style, so it ends up being an intriguing icon makers crossover or something. :D
Aaahh! LJSearch-fu. The mystic discipline of information-seeking ;D though I admit the newer LJ search confuses me T_T
Hmm, you actually have a fair point: it's downright impossible to copy someone's work pixel by pixel (unless you have endless time and ability to duplicate their resources) and inevitably, I guess your own methods mix with the one you're emulating, and the end result is both unique and inspired, and tl;dr in short, brilliant?
I remember those days... back before uni took over both of our lives!
Hair is stunning! And I love the composition in Singing, plus it's purple so it's full of win! The whole cat set is so creative and unique! Your text use in theiconquest icons is great!
Thank you thank you thank you ♥♥♥ Since purple symbolises royalty, it is not suspect at all that we like it... ;P text is honestly the scariest thing in the world for me, so it means a lot that you like it ♥
And all props still go to you for running a kickass 20in20 comm :o not to mention you still do 20in20s (at least one claim, as opposed to three) ... Unless theiconquest is the new 20in20?
Also, have you considered land comms? Because I really, really want to lure you to tvholics...
We are FLAWLESS friends for a reason ♥ TVD is a little complicated for me in that sense as well, because Bonnie is literally the magical Negro stereotype, and the storylines are not very sympathetic to black characters, and all of fandom seems to hate her with some kind of insane burning (semi-racist) passion, but even so, or maybe because of it, it sits badly with me that I don't especially like Bonnie. While I may not hate her, and I deplore the unfortunate implications surrounding her, she seems kinda meh compared to Caroline and Damon? Or maybe I haven't see enough to judge.
AND THANK YOU SO MUCH. REALLY, REALLY, YOU FLOOR ME BECAUSE I NEVER HAVE WORDS AND YOU FLATTER ME LIKE NO ONE'S BUSINESS, AND I LOVE YOU ♥__________________♥
I will absolutely make TVD icons if you want. But also send pretty TVD caps my way? Because the ones I have are all season one/early season two, and that's lacking the best Delena :(
ALSO OMG WHAT IS THAT GIF. ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS? DID PERCHANCE TO DREAM REALLY FORESHADOW THE SHOW? OMG OMG OMG
