"i hear nothing.... not even the sound on the streets... i have mail... from you"

I am really tired tonight but I wanted to post an update about what is going on in my life.

Well, this weekend has been lovely. Rob has this weekend off and of course I had it off too, so we spent some quality time together. Starting yesterday with us getting breakfast at our usual place, and then running some errands - picking up laundry soap, cat food, and we bought a new toy for the cats and a cute little wine rack - then we came home and completely purged our kitchen utensil drawers. We had two junk drawers full of stuff and we narrowed it down to one drawer with non-essentials and 1 smalled drawer of everyday stuff like wooden spoons, measuring cups and spoons, and spatulas. Every Christmas my grandma gives me a spatula in my sack, so I had like 6 or 7 spatulas, which is an obscene amount of spatulas for 2 people. I also found two whisks that looked identical. So, long story short, it was nice to get rid of a lot of that stuff. Well, not really get rid of, just put in a bag to donate to my brother and the cottage. Anyway, we also rearranged the placement of some of our bakeware and took some bowls out of their boxes (stuff that we got as wedding gifts a year and a half ago).

Check out our new wine rack. It holds 8 wine glasses and 4 bottles of wine. Now, we just need the wine.

Today, Rob and I had a date day, we walked downtown because it was a gorgeous, mild, and sunny day. It was nice to get some exercise, but our feet got soaked walking through all the melted snow puddles. Anyway, once downtown we browsed around Chapters (that is like our classic browsing spot. Rob and I both enjoy reading and we wish we had millions of dollars to spent there). Anyway, we bought a huge book full of decor ideas for when we buy a house (more on that later). After Chapters, we went and saw Defiance at the downtown theatre. That theatre isn't as popular in Kingston and there were only 7 people watching the movie. But I kinda liked it that way. To cap off our date night, we went out to dinner at Mexi's. All in all, it has been great spending time with Rob this weekend.

On Wednesday there was a huge snowstorm in Kingston that lasted all day. I had to work at my placement that day and by the time I got out of there at 4, there was a ton of snow on the ground and it was still coming down really hard. I decided not to walk to the bus terminal to catch a bus (it's only a 10 minute walk, but the street doesn't have a sidewalk and I thought it was too dangerous to walk it in the blizzard) and instead to wait at the bus shelter infront of my work for the # 15 bus to take me to the terminal. While on the #15, the bus got stuck going up a hill, so we had to get off that bus and transfer to the #2, which was also going to to terminal. While walking to the #2, I slipped on a snow-covered patch of ice. That sucked, I kinda banged up my knee (it is still bruised and hurts like a bitch to touch), but I was ok. I was pissed off when I sat down on the #2 and realized that when I fell, I got a huge rip in the inside of my jeans (like a foot long) .  So I was stuck on the #2 bus, slowly inching my way through a blizzard, with a huge rip in my jeans, exposing my inner-thigh. My Wednesday was going stellar. Finally, the #2 got downtown where I could transfer to the #12 and finally get home. I stepped off the #2 and lunged forward, tripped up by a damn snow bank. By this point I was so frustrated and depressed and I just wanted to get home. I had to wait 15 minutes for the #12 to show up, but I was finally able to get on that bus and make it home. All in all, my Wednesday was horrible, I'd had a crappy day at placement and I lost my favourite jeans to a foot-long rip in the crotch and I just wanted to get home.

On Thursday, I had a much better day at placement and capped my day off by heading to Ricki's to replace my favourite jeans. I ended up finding 2 awesome pairs of jeans and 2 long-sleeved tees (which i love to layer with). I also decided to go to Bentley to look for a purse to replace my brown tweed one that had a broken zipper. Bentley was having an awesome sale on all their bags, so I bought a sexy red laptop bag and I black faux leather purse.

In other news, I am interested in taking up knitting. I used to knit when I was like 10, my grandma taught me how and I think I only made one thing: dishcloths. But, it as interesting. It would be cool to knit stuff for people. After reading the Friday Night Knitting Club I started to think that it would be a cool hobby to get into again. I saw a few books at Chapters today on knitting. One called Visually Teach Yourself to Knit looked really interesting. Once I have some spending money, I might invest in that book, some yarn, and some needles and go from there. Maybe I will start once school stops or over the reading break.

Speaking of school, things are good there. I am anticipating the end of my course and have applied for a few jobs. One job I applied for is an Ontario Internship. It is a paid 2 year position with the government and there is a possibility of it going permanent. It sounds like such a great opportunity for me, but I am not sure I will get it. It is highly competitive. Anyway, the hiring process is fairly intense. The deadline for applications was last week, this week they are reviewing the apps and if I get selected, I have to write a selection test during the middle of February. I have no clue what kind of questions would be on the test but I am would love to advance to the next round. :)

Given the economy right now, and the job market, I am eager to get a job anywhere. But, my current obsession is St. Catharines. I would LOVE to get a job there. A guy in my program used to live there and I am hoping he has some contacts for me. But also, the housing in St. KItts is so cheap. Rob and I could really get a lot of bang for our buck there. I currently have my eye on a gorgeous 4 bed, 2 bath house with central air and inground pool. Anyway, I am hoping that regardless of where we end up, we will be able to invest in a house this year.

Wow, this got way longer than I anticipated. I guess I should write more often.
