the dmv is a douchebag

Ok, so I went to the dmv today with my permits, proof of insurance, and CAR (whose name is now Simone), and I learned a particularly stupid quirk in the system. No, Lily was not licensed today. Why? Because the state of North Carolina requires that the insurance have your name on it (it was my father's plan, which was to include me somehow?).

for insurance purposes, im pretty sure you dont have to have your own plan, or pay your own insurance, but just have your own insurance card, which could be the same plan, if you are covered by that plan for sure, maybe just call them and ask for an actual card with your name on it? i know i dont pay specific insurance, but my parents have a card with my name on it...
