i stole candy today, from those bins in larry's market. the guy sorta flipped out and i feel kinda bad about it. i think i ought to appologize. the guy seemed like the type that wouldn't really accept one though. its really a small crime, a kid thing to do, you know? anyway, i'd like to do something to make it better, pay it forward and such.-kyle

nothing is universal brian. What if you are stealing to sruvive because you are some kid growing up incredibly poor with nothing to eat...say your orphaned just living off of whatever you can find. is stealing still wrong if it is to survive?

as you say "survival of the fittest" if they can't defend their own goods why should they get to keep them anyway?

"Survival of the fittest" doesn't mean taking whats not yours, or that you have no claim to. Im not going to use the "well, if everyone did it imagine what would happen argument..." because its trite and full of holes.

If stealing was a matter of survival for me, would I steal? Probably, but that doesnt make it right.

How can you determine what is right vs what is wrong? if it is your goal in life to always do right, then would you sacrifice your survival to do right? or would surviving become the right thing to do.

what if the stakes are even higher? say you have to support your other siblings as well? now its not just your survival, then does it become right?
