Bored couldn’t even describe her feeling right now. Hermione was sitting in front of Harry and Ron, who were talking endlessly about Quidditch and Harry’s new broom which he had just received from his godfather, Sirius.

Ron stopped talking abruptly when he saw Hermione standing up. “Where are you going?” he asked, clearly annoyed by her act which had caused him to stop blabbering about some Seeker from Germany or something.

“I’m going to the Library,” she told them and left quickly before she was trapped in another lacklustre conversation.

“Obviously, something’s wrong with her head, School’s over tomorrow and she-”

She blocked Ron’s idiotic comment and exited Gryffindor’s common room. Sighing loudly, she kept a steady pace as she walked down the stairs. That wasn’t the first time Ron ever talked about her like that. She remembered their first year when she heard Ron making fun of her with Harry, Seamus and Dean. And that wasn’t the last time she ever heard him saying things like that about her either. He had mentioned about her messed up head thousands of times, but it still hurt nevertheless.

Not long after that, Hermione arrived at her fortress of solitude; the library. It brought her peace to being in there, surrounded by books and the scent of old parchments. Not wanting to waste anymore time, Hermione quickly marched to the Magic Creature Section. But what she saw there was rather appalling scenery. In front of her were two bodies pressing fiercely against the other with their hands exploring and their lips smacking each others. Maybe if other students were to find them in this situation, they would either run or scream, but Hermione just simply rolled her eyes, snatching the book she was looking for and muttered, “Another prat,” before she went to find a table.

She found an empty table at an abandoned side of the room and put her bag on the table along with the book Full Moon: Werewolf. Soon the previous scene was quickly forgotten as she was engrossed in the contents of the book - too engrossed that she did not notice someone had pulled out a chair and sat next to her.
“Hermione Granger,” greeted the person with a twinge of roguish under his tone.

Hermione sighed; she turned her head and found herself drowned into a pair of smoky grey eyes. “Cedric Diggory,” she greeted back, imitating his own voice.

“Being a voyeur again, weren’t you, Granger?” Even though it came as a question, they both knew it was a statement. “Although you’d be very much welcome to participate,” he smirked, clearly enjoying the reaction he received.

Hermione’s eyes widened and her cheeks reddened involuntarily. “Seriously, Diggory… You have an ego bigger than this room,” she said before turning her attention back to the book.

Cedric just chuckled, his eyes twinkling brightly. “Aw, come on, Granger… lighten up a bit!”

“You mean like you?” she jeered in a whisper.

“At least I’m having fun, aren’t I?” Cedric replied, leaning back in his seat.

“You mean-” She paused briefly and turned her gaze back to the book she was holding when Madam Pince walked pass them, glaring suspiciously at her and smiling sickeningly sweet at Cedric before disappearing behind a bookshelf. “You mean having fun by playing with every girl’s heart?” Hermione continued, after she was sure it was safe to talk again, still staring blankly at the book in case Madam Pince returned.

“Hey, I’ve never treated them bad, y’know, I merely give them love and respect,” he said nonchalantly.

Hermione scoffed. “Love,”

“What are you reading?” Cedric pulled the book from her before she could protest. She knew him well enough to know that he did not want to discuss the matter anymore. “Werewolf?” His brows winched up in question. “Is this about Prof. Lupin?”

“No,” she replied too quickly.

Cedric just stared at her, clearly not believing in her word. “He’s a cool teacher, maybe the coolest teacher who ever had taught at Hogwarts,” Hermione nodded approvingly, “Too bad he has to leave the school. Anyway, I’ve got to go, still haven’t packed my things.”

He pushed the chair and rose up. “See you next year, Granger, I’m going to miss that rabbit tooth of yours,” he teased and left quickly before she could say anything, or worse: hex him.

Hermione glared at his back, a smile betraying her face. She still remembered the first day she met Cedric Diggory. They met at the library five months ago, after the same scene she had faced not long before. Only that time, the girl had been Christina Echols, a sixth year Ravenclaw whilst he was still in year five. After that, the scene seemed to be a regular thing for her every week, of course with different girls in his claws every time she saw him. They began their ‘unique’ friendship when Cedric would start sitting next to her after his make out session, helping her with her homework sometimes or just teasing her mercilessly. Even though she never showed it, she really enjoyed his company. She sighed as he disappeared to the corridor and turned her attention back to the book in front of her.

A unique friendship indeed.

-End of Chapter one-
