Data Recovery ?

In sorting out the flat for imminent moving, I've found a couple of PC hard disks which must be from machines I abandoned over ten years ago, As far as I know, the disks themselves are not damaged but most certainly haven't been stored in ideal conditions ( Read more... )

Would it be possible to stick them in a computer or a USB casing? If they are in working condition that should do the trick, the only issue is whether you have access to equipment with the right connectors.

That was my first thought as well - step one is to try and stick them into an external case and see whether they still work. (Macs can read PC formatted discs just fine.). If that doesn't work, you can always buy a new hard drive and voila, instant backup drive.

If you know people who build their own PCs, someone might be able to help you out with this.

Next time you visit bring the hard-drives with you. I am sure one of the Chorlton-geek-collective will have a way of recovering the data. :-)
