7. I'm not always outspoken. Here in the muslim community in Auburn, where I know for a fact that any feminist views of mine will be dismissed as silly, I tend to keep my mouth shut. I feel guilty about it, thinking that I should strive to root out misogyny and bigotry wherever I encounter it. But it is hard to take a stand when I know that I wont be backed up, and will probably get a talking-to from my parents afterwards for being rude to my elders and guests. I'm working on it, though :)
As for how I got my voice...you should blame sandy, the women's center and the house Cosmo subscription. They first made me comfortable talking about this in public. And knowing that people would still like me, no matter how outrageous my comments, is a big help. Tech offers that security more than any place I've been.
1. Sandy, you care so much about everyone around you, and have so few difficulties expressing yourself. You don't care what others think about you; you defend your stances, particularly on women's rights, with conviction, and if someone disagrees, you are strong enough to say "You are wrong." I'm just beginning to use the voice that Maryam developed while at tech, but it seems you've had it your entire life

1. Ah, Mr. Walrus, you have always been there, uncomplaining, to offer a nice, fuzzy hug. Also, despite a diet of fish and clams, you always have such fresh breath -- I am amazed!
2. "I am the Walrus" -- Beatles. :)
3. Mealtimes.
4. Toothy.
5. Seeing those delightful fliers when you and Root ran for VPs together.
6. Silvery, like you'd see on a nice, tasty trout.
7. How on earth do you get those tusks so pearly white? I am truly amazed at your dental hygiene! ;)
8. Put this in your journal... if you can type with flippers. :D
1. You are truly loyal to your friends, and will not stand idly by when they are unhappy. You also have a real eye for anime artwork; I loved the posters you had up in your room! Finally, you have a real sense of organization and responsibility, not to mention organization, which I have always envied and admired

I'll get around to answering the meme within the next week, for you and Sandy and Mr. Walrus. :)
